my vin starts a wp29u and it is titled a 1973 charger but in my finding that w stands for coronet and x would mean a charger and i thought that 1973 coronets were only 4 doors and so on can anyone explaine this to me thanks

Dino

That's true up to and including 1970, after that W was both for Chargers and Coronets and the X designation was nixed.

Can't help you with the door question.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

cudakid4401971

so do you think this is rare its a 440 rally car with air conditioning and is a se with vinal top

Dino

I don't know much about 3rd gens but that particular combo does not sound rare to me.  More valuable than a sb car sure, but I don't know how many of these were made.

I searched and found another post that said of all the SE's made in 1973, 1,627 came with the 440, which is fairly rare given 120K 1973 Chargers were made.

cudakid4401971

just looking for any help with my vin says its a coronet and is 1 of 1600 made with a se vinal top and 440

W is the same code for Charger and Coronet since 71, HOWEVER being 21 23 or 29 on 3rd and 4th digits will determine its a Charger since not anymore 2 doors Coronets. A Coronet would be 41, 43 or 49

2x is two doors, hence a Charger

4x is 4 doors, hence a Coronet

until '75 when it was brought back for Charger SE's. The W was, again, used for two and four door Coronets.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

cudakid,

WP29U3x

W for Charger 1971-1974
P for Premium price class/trim level
29 for 2-door sport hardtop
WP29 all together is a Charger SE for 1973

U for Engine - 440 cu in
3 for Model year - 1973

x Will be a letter that tells you what assembly plant your car was built at.

The next 6 numbers will just be the sequence number of your car.

If you still have the data tag attached to the inner fender next to your battery - that will give you more information about your car.

Hope this helps! Scott.

Officially, the title for my 74 440 Rallye stated the body as a COR2T (coronet - 2 door). Don't let any of that mislead you. Go off the VIN as previously stated.

Quoteso do you think this is rare its a 440 rally car with air conditioning and is a se with vinal top

There are no SE Rallye cars. If it is a 440 car it relatively rare whether a Rallye or an SE, so it is a keeper. WP on the VIN = SE. WH on the VIN may mean it is a Rallye car. This can be verified by code A47 on the fender tag, but then again not all Rallye's has A47 on the tag if they were not built in St. Louis plant.

Thanks that does make sense in a nice driver condition what will this car be worth with all option roughly and a new rebuilt rebuilt motor and tranny top bannana yellow about 9 out of ten in condition arizona car very clean original quarters and floors

RallyeMike

Your definition of nice driver quality and all options? It makes a big difference. If the car has the rare sunroof, add maybe $5k for example. A car cannot be valued over the internet accurately without a lot more info and pictures.

How about posting a few photos of your car.

It is an SE and not a Rallye as RallyeMike stated... but it would have been A57 for the Rallye designation - if not a Lynch Road car. If Lynch Road, then you need more clues to work from such as V21, etc...
