Now my friends Charger is totalled, in his garage

What next, now my friends Charger is totalled, in his garage. He past away three years ago, and was on this site souring eagle. He was 75%
done with his 69 Charger, this poor guy was more anal than I, the car was finished about two years after he past away, just over a year ago.

I have always worried about this same thing at my place. Just on the other side of my fence ''20 feet'' away from my garage, are
seven 100 foot fir tree's, and I will be in there shoe's.

We had a good wind storm over the week end. A tree came down across our street three doors down from my place in the dark. on
our back road. This poor guy came around the corner and could not stop, so aid cars and fire engines were stopping in front of our place
at 10pm, of coarse it was dark and wet. He had a head injury, but he will be OK.

Then the next day I get this call and this email with pics. They kept the car up in the air on the hoist, as to not damage the car while doing other
things in the shop. The A pillars and roof are crushed to the dash frame. The car could very well be bent as well, but it is not safe for a
wheel chair yet under the car.

The insurance company came out and they are needing to get the tree off, then figure out the coverage, but pretty sure the car will be
a totall loss. Evan after a 14 year rotisserie resto, its got an amazing carnelian paint job, and is a modified car, but very well done.

They are asking me the best way to go, and how much it may be worth as is? or would anybody be interested. If the insurance
company low balls them on the value, or evan has a problem with how it was stored, its very hard for me, I have been around
this car for the last 14 years, and would try and buy it from them, but in my condition I could never fix it. Also I could not bring
myself to part it out.

Just thought I would check your guys opinions  :shruggy:

Thanks Dan

FUCK!! you can tell off the bat the car is done up well and beautiful looking at the whole front grill setup and paint.  Damn man....I hope they don't lowball him and they had an agreed value on it?

That's awful.  This is why we have to treasure every moment.  You never know....

Hard to say until you can get closer but if the car isn't bent, you can replace a roof.  Maybe it can be saved.  In any case make sure they don't cave for the insurance company, its the adjusters job to deny the claim so they will try for the lowball.

That's why I store my cars in a garage and save them so I will open up that garage in 25 years and will be worth 5 million dollars...safe from the environments and stuff.....oh wait the car was crushed in a garage  :'(

myk

Lol.  Well I like the idea of garage'ing a car just to keep it from prying eyes and hands...

Dan,
Lordy, the sight of the car, the fact your friend past away and then this...... Wow........ My heart breaks for you, him looking down and his family and the situation that lies ahead. Hopefully with your help and insight on the market, the insurance company will be fair with them. They had better not complain about the way it was stored... One hand it is high ( to protect from flooding, the most likely natural event to happen ), on the other hand, if it was low, it still would have been crushed...

Regarding what to do.. Unless the family or some emotionally close individual steps up to repair it, something's going to have to be done with the car ( the sad truth ). And, you know what that means...

I pray that things will fall into place for the family....

Pictures after you clean it up? maybe it can be spliced with one of those "Unusable charger shells" as a roof donor?  :'(

Sucks.   :'(

Gotta love the Mopar hobby.  Show us a car that is crushed flat down to the dashboard, and we say "check to see if it's bent".

Ugh, that is SO horrible to see...  :'(

What an eerie sequence of events though, first sadly your friend and now his Charger? You almost have to wonder if it's some ghostly coincidence?

I am so sad to see this happen to such a beautiful car. Ger
I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

gers1968rt. Just went over your build thread. They should send you this car. Looks like you'd be the man to put it back right. :2thumbs:

Wow. That sucks. Can't always tell from pictures but the tree doesn't look that big. To bad that tin roof couldn't handle a little more of the impact.   :'(

If the 7 fir tree's on the other side of your fence are close together they should be o.k. in wind storms.

Such a crying shame for such a beautiful Charger  :'(   Very sad for the family. I'm sure that car was a treasured memory.
