A lot depends on the build, if it's a complete fiberglass conversion kit, it'll leave a lot to be desired, vs a clone done with original/NOS or repro steel components, as well as a build based on factory correctness in regards to fit/function,... aftermarket or homemade headlite activation systems, wing supports/etc will detract from it's value

Can anyone tell me what Chrysler stock will be worth in ten years?  I'd like to buy some now if I know its going up!

Here is what you really want to know.   "Hey, I'm thinking about building a really cool looking car, what's the chance that I'll ever get my money back out of it, or find someone who is as hot for my car as I am?"

THAT QUESTION does have an answer....  "NO!" and "NEVER!"

The value of clone's has proven to be hardly more (in the best of circumstances) than what the donor car was worth.   The exceptions might be the actual part value of some of the rare parts - say you put a Hemi in it, the Hemi would have standalone value.   OR, if you put a real metal or NOS bird nose on it, someone might pay for that value (plus the donor car) - you get the idea!

So my advice is this...

IF you are having as much fun as you are spending money - then go for it and realize that some day you'll sell the car and probably NEVER get the money you spent in it back.   BUT YOU HAD FUN.

To me, I'd hope to get the original value of the donor car (before restoration) and the original value of the premium parts (say the engine) - then you did as about as good as you can expect.

Good luck!

I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Hi Cloner's,

Its not about the MoNeY its about the car.
Do it because you want TOO!!! :2thumbs:
But why spend $100,000 building a good/great clone?
Try and buy a rough original, now thats an investment!!!
25 years ago real Wing-cars were about and cheap!
I could have bought a Daytona for $5000, you can't even buy a good 69/70 Charger shell for that now? :RantExplode:
We have all missed the 'Boat' on Wing-Cars, clones are our only way IN!
Most of us are too old an weary to do it now.
IMITATION IS THE SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY!!!
At what price though?

Buy a real C500 project, much more fun and half the price anyways.
Oh yes, rarer TOO LOL!

Hi Cloners.
Always wanted to do a Wing-clone, and so have hundreds of others!
Some start and give up, others never start and some real hardy folks actually finish!!! :icon_smile_big:
Then they take their pride and Joy to a show and certain Folks 'Slate it' rotten!!! :slap:

THAT'S PROBABLY WHY AFTER HEARING COMMENTS ABOUT CLONES,  I  didn't bother.

Now a WingCar RaceCar Clone/tribute, will get you mucho Kudos!
You can do it how you want, cut corners, use Junkyard parts and tell everyone:
THAT'S HOW THEY DID IT BACK THEN, LOL.

SO WHAT'S IT WORTH??
About half what you put into it!!!

Still wanna do ONE?

Pretty sure anyone that has went that route (myself included) has not used "junkyard" parts...   :rotz:
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Hi Cloners,

Here in lies the problem?
To build a copy of a Wingcar will cost as much as restoring one!
Building a racecar clone will be much cheaper, for obvious reasons.

I bought a real (rustfree) fender from a 'fast and furious' Movie Charger.
The guy wanted $1250 for it, I thought it was Coolio.
It was a JUNKYARD part! :shruggy:
My Mopar restoration friends said I was MAD!!!
You can buy a new one for $600! :icon_smile_big:

There is no comparison between Wingcars and most other grass-roots Mopars!
I have learnt very quickly that you can only play in the big game when you have money to burn.
And without a doubt, Wingcars are 'the big GAME' in town!!! :coolgleamA:
5J coming to terms with, never owning a Wingcar! :rotz: :icon_smile_sad:
