un less this car is a XX29 car in disguise  / XS29J  or even if all the planets are alined a rare optioned XS29L maybe    even  maybe a rare optioned XP29  car  cant see any one taking it on !

Restore?? yeah right.  :badidea:   It would cost a minimum of $25,000 to get the body completed.

Oh yeah, then you just need to acquire some stuff, ....like, oh I don't know.....ALL THE PARTS!!  :brickwall:

Engine, transmission, driveshaft, differential, brakes, suspension, complete and total interior, complete dash, and all wiring harnesses, all body hardware including bumpers, tail-lights, grille, wheels/tires, and then paint the thing.

Has to be at least a $75,000...(or possibly a $100K) to build correctly.

Rusty unibodies are great for tube chassis racecars.


IMO it's really aggravating how often people insist on starting with a solid body even though they plan on hacking away the entire floor/subframes.

Heh, heh, no I wasn't thinking of you . . . you're actually USING the solid subframes under your car, even if they are getting moved around a bit.  I can understand wanting a solid car for that.  


I'm thinking of the cars that start out solid before getting a rectangular-tube/aftermarket frame from bumper to bumper.  I can understand the incentive to avoid rust, but doesn't the money motivate anyone to avoid the clean cars?  You can get the roof/sides of one of these unibodies for about $500-1000 with some digging around.  Even a moderately solid and mostly complete car (what they usually start with) costs 10x that.

Yeah baldwinvette I bought the one I had posted about for $2k that had the coronet parts car a crap load of parts and all new floors. It is Really bad but if I factor in the new metal and parts I got I basically got the car with a clean title for like $200. I have bought a 68 satellite for parts for $300 since and I have new rear rails, crossmember, trunk brace, spring perches, inner rockers. Have outer rockers, torsion crossmember and front rails on order and I built a body jig similar to mopar4don's and downloaded the 69 manual. As soo as the 73 is out of my garage (sold to a friend) the deconstruction will begin and start cleaning old and replacing rotten with new  ;D

You know with all of the sheet metal available from AMD other than the titling issues I don't know why anyone would build a racing version of these cars starting with and old body at all. Build your tube chassis and hang the body on it from scratch.  :Twocents: That reminds me. What ever happened to that guy who was doing just that? :shruggy:

I sold this 70 for $300.00 less than this guy's asking price of $1500.00

Mine didn't have suspension like his does (well at least partial on his lol) but mine came with a VIN tag.
No title but at least a VIN tag.

Much more metal to work with but still some would consider scrapping it  :shruggy:

The fellow who bought it was going to use the back metal (frames/tail panel  etc.) to farm out his 70 R/T that got rear ended.

Hi Charger Folks,
Even if it was a 69-500 its toooo far gone!
Surely the rule of thumb is:  there'sgot to be more than 50% of the 'ORIGINAL' car left at the end of the rebuild!
If not, its a 'new car' with some old parts attached!!! :smilielol:
What some enthusiastic rebuilders forget is, once the body is done there's a thousand+ parts to find.
Thats why this car is like it is, Folks have robbed the thousands of small pieces needed to finish a rebuild! :scratchchin:

Lets face it, anyone mad enough to buy a rusted out shell needs therapy!!! :nana:
