They were pretty clear about the made in USA part, wouldn't they be open to false advertising if they weren't?  It isn't like there is assembly involved here.

Cooter

It takes something like 36% made here to still carry "made in USA" Label. Most likely, they are made in Taiwan.

I'm sure they were just testing the market to see how much of a demand there was for our grilles.  Now that they have an idea for how much of a demand there is, they know how much to make.

Thank you all for your continued interest in these new grilles.
We'd like to take some time to clear up any speculation regarding the country of origin and the numbers produced.
These grilles are indeed manufactured in the USA. They are produced by hand in low volume quantities, rather than being mass-produced overseas.
The end result is a high quality restoration part at an extremely reasonable price.

Due to the feedback we received during the release of our initial offering, we have decided to add some additional options.
These grilles will now be available with headlamp door pivot brackets installed and in your choice of black (unpainted) or silver (painted as original).

Here is a link to the product offering as it currently stands. http://www.classicindustries.com/shop/mopar/parts/?q=Mb143&p=1&sb=1

Our next shipment (MB143508 - 1969 black unpainted grilles with brackets) http://www.classicindustries.com/product/mopar/parts/mb143508.html is due in the middle of December 2014.
In early January 2015, we will have the MB143506 - 1969 silver painted grilles with brackets. http://www.classicindustries.com/product/mopar/parts/mb143506.html

Should any of you have any further questions, please feel free to PM me here.

So, does that mean those of us that ordered early can expect the stand alone brackets to ship in mid-December?  Really looking forward to getting those in hand!  Will the brackets include the rivets?  If not, are you planing to sell them separately?  Imo, they should be included with the brackets, but I have not seen that mentioned on the listing, especially early on.

I am very happy with the grille.  I think it will actually wind up holding up very well.  Imo the sag will be eliminated with the installation into the frame work.  I would much rather have a lively plastic, than something that is rigid and prone to stress fractures.

I showed it to a friend who restores cars for a living and he thought I should be able to remove the overspray with mineral spirits on a Q-tip.  That will make things a lot easier as long as there is no reaction with the base plastic.

My only complaint will stem that I paid slightly more for the grill + bracket than the combo/assembled price, lol.  I do think the rivets should be included with the brackets if they are not.  Overpriced hardware tend to piss me off, haha.

That said, the grill looks great and I have enjoyed walking in the shop to see it sitting on top of a box these last few weeks...Can't wait to get it installed along with the rest of the front end upgrades!

A complete package with all the trim might also be worth checking into...I actually would have popped for that if it was an option and cut enough off buying everything solo.  Yet again, thanks for bringing this to the market!

I'd still like to know how similar the modern plastic being used is to the original.  I think I'll pm and ask.

Morning All,
Just a quick update on this topic. I received ship confirmation yesterday regarding the brackets and hardware kits that a few of us have been waiting on.  It seems from the latest description that the brackets do indeed come with all the hardware including rivets to install them correctly. I should have it Monday and may tackle that project next weekend. Will be nice to actual see one of these grills mounted and put together to compare to OE.

Hi JB400,
Thanks for the inquiry. There are no plans to break up the assemblies at this time. Maybe there are some forum members that would take the extra pieces off your hands?

I think hes asking about a part of the 68 grille that you may not be aware of. The 68 has a bezal around the headlight visible when the headlight doors are open.

I am not sure which part is being asked about, however the part you are referring to is on their site now.

Refer to my post above.

FYI; I am not sure if they are "correct" for your '69 model. I have had several '69 models, and none had them, including one I bought in 1975 and still have. I have wondered this for a few years if any '69 models had them. I also checked the parts books, they are only shown for '68, not '69.

Any opinions or experience out there whether some '69 models had them from the factory?

AFAIK they are '68 only.  :yesnod:

Yep 68 only. A lot of people like to add them to 69 models though.

I would.

I should have bought the original set I found a few years ago for $40.  If I come across another for that kinda money I'd get them but I wouldn't spend much more on them.  They're just not visible enough to spend 100's on.
