I'm looking for my old emblems so I'll post up on the fitment of those soon as I find them. Also looking for my spare hardware kit so I can get some pics of it put together.

One big missing piece that really sucks is there is no way to mount the headlight doors.  :brickwall:  They do not include the pieces that are normally riveted to the housing. Hopefully someone will make something to remedy this.

What in would love to see is a weight comparison between the centers and the buckets. Comparing the originals to the aftermarket. I bet the plastic is lighter . Overall it looks like a ok product and w good price point. Eager to see more info

Charger-Bodie

I wonder if you could get them to offer them without paint?

Thanks for the write up   Next thing to know is: how well does the trim fit?

I can see what you're talking about on how bad it's warped.  My original is not that way.

myk

No way to mount the headlight doors?  What's the point to that?  Asides from that this is a killer deal, better than a 40 year old ebay ripoff for sure...

Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures.

I think they should just offer it in black only.

I understand the tight bubble wrap issue but the warping due to the softness of the plastic is my main concern.  The next test is a hot summer day with an engine at temp.

WHITE AND RED 69

No problem fellas

So put together it fits nicely. It actually feels well built carrying the whole thing. I know carrying my original it felt a lot more fragile like it could snap at any minute. There are these little guide pins and holes on each piece that line it all up which is nice. The emblems on the headlight door fit perfectly. Other than the warped section and overspray it looks great.

Yeah I wish I hadn't sold my trim when I replaced it a while back. But it looks like it would have no problem fitting.

Hey Pete if you want to throw your extra one on a scale I'll do the same with this one. It would be nice to see the weight difference.  :2thumbs:

Overall it's a decent product. Could use a little more work making the surrounds tougher and making it a little less flimsy but for $900 bucks its not bad. I've sold the headlight buckets for almost that.    A little touch up paint and fixing the warped sections and it will look good.

Of course if you have an original stick with that. But for the guys who have damaged or completely missing ones, these will work just fine. (except for the door mounting areas) At least now we have another option out there.   :2thumbs:  One of these days I'll pull my original to get a real comparison but that's not gonna happen anytime soon.

That will be the big test. Hopefully the when its mounted in the grill support with the trim on it will hold up to the heat. All the mounting points look great so hopefully the manufacturer did some testing.

The few flaws aside, I think it's awesome that someone finally stepped up to the plate and made a nice affordable repro grill. :woohoo:

Sure thing I can weigh mine, just as long as our scales agree

WHITE AND RED 69

Here is the weight of everything:

Center= 2.5 lbs
Left bucket= 1.5 lbs
right bucket= 1.5 lbs

Original headlight door= .5 lbs

Great write up and evaluation W&R!  Thanks much for taking the time and effort with this!   :2thumbs:

As the bucket supports are riveted on are the holes pre-drilled or is that left up to us?

Would the trim pieces help straiten out the warped part, to a degree?

My original was warped - same part.  Mounting to the frame straightened it out.

I have an NOS center and surround.   And they have overspray.  Even if you have to paint the whole thing, it will be a much easier job than painting a 40 year old grille.

Thanks so much for the review.

Glad to help out.

The holes are all there so there is no modification needed other than building the mounting bracket for the doors.

Sometime this weekend I'm going to try to make an easy mounting bracket and just weld a bolt on to hold the door on. Does anyone have any measurements for these pieces?

Luke

I'm sure the trim will pull it in place. If not the trim, soon as its bolted in the frame it will pull right up.

Was the warped area as bad as this one? When I redid mine it was fairly straight?

Useless if you can't mount the doors

I wouldn't say its useless. All that is needed is 4 small brackets and you're in business.
