i just relized i live in texas and he's in california, which is 2 hours behind me. so he will leave work at 7pm my time and then have to go home and open the box and take pics. this thread should light back up around 8-9pm my time.

I know this may be a sacrilege, but will the 69 grille fit a 68 car. As much as I love the 68 grille, the 69 has a little more styling and would fit the pro-touring look of my car.

I feel the opposite: I'd put a '68 grill on mine if I could.  Personally, I think changing the grills and tail lights from '68 was a mistake; they shoulda left it alone for the next two years...

I love the back of my 68, but I've always been torn between the 68 and 69 fronts. The has a good pro touring look to it. Are they both interchangeable.

The center sections are interchangeable if you have the correct hood latch hardware.  Each year is different

Technically the dash frame and vacuum pods are different between 68 and 69 - although I know people have mixed and matched them in the past. The end pieces are the same (along with the trim) so if you want to swap the 69 center - along with the trim - it isn't terribly hard. The hard part then is getting the latch mechanism right. The emblems are different (and in a different spot) and the vertical fins aren't painted silver on the 69 (in case you have a nice 68 grill and just plug in the 69 center).

On a related note, the headlight bezels were a 68 only thing but look nice on a 69.

For what it's worth, it annoys me to no end to see "Frankenstein" cars (parts from various models/years on a single car). Hot rodders get away with it on cars that had questionable styling in the first place. If I were going to deviate from stock I'd really deviate - not use another year's stock parts. Look at the high dollar "custom" Chargers from the last several years where they've tried to improve the style and you'll see that most have failed miserably.

Noooo!!  Don't say that. Maybe it's so cool he's just staring at it and admiring the craftsmanship.
Was that too much? I just want it to work. To be a good product. I don't need a grille. But for all others and maybe I will in the future.

  It made it here ok. I'm just getting some photos ready.

There is some good and bad news but overall it's pretty nice.

So the good news...its fairly sturdy and all the pieces seem to be correct. The pieces have a bit more flex to them than the originals though. (Could just be that my 40 year old parts are brittle?) I don't have another center and sides to compare to but going off memory (which might be a bad thing  ) the originals were pretty flimsy as well. But the mounting spots seem like they would bend before snapping so that might be a plus? The headlight doors compared to a spare set I have are almost spot on. Again they have a bit more flex but I'd have no problem using them if my originals broke. The center section and side pieces look really good as well. Again, not as solid feeling as the originals but they feel strong enough that they won't snap easily.

And the bad...The paint. The front of all the parts are painted well but the sides and tops are covered in silver overspray. Also the paint is incorrect in a bunch of spots, the side pieces behind the door are all painted silver (I did mine with black behind the doors, which I thought was correct. If it is supposed to be silver someone will speak up.) So for a nicer appearance some areas will need to be touched up.

Also I'm not sure if it was because of the way it was packaged (the bubble wrap was taped up pretty tight) but both side pieces on the top have some warped areas. I'm going to brace up the pieces tonight to see if the shape will return to normal. Not a deal killer but I'll post up on how or if they get back in shape.

It's still better than nothing. Or the extreme ebay prices

I did find 2 spots where the casting was bad but nothing major.
