QuoteNo kidding.  They've declared war on us.  Publicly announced it, several times, used the word "WAR".  Declared it on us.  And the west keeps saying, "well, you know we were kind of mean to them, we need to be more understanding and tolerant and then they'll like us".
Kind of like Chamberlain and Hitler.

Who ever says we need to be more forgiving of extremists like ISIS & Taliban?  That's not the same thing as saying we should try to forge a better relationship with a quarter of the human race.

I would agree that there is a certain amount of "We should be more understanding of them" among one side of the political spectrum.  That's not surprising, considering that there is also a certain amount of "We should just nuke & pave that whole region" among the other side.

As for wars & religion, groups of people declare war on the USA all the time.  The declaration itself doesn't prove we need to do a lot about it.  It depends on the size of the threat.  ISIS/Taliban needs attention but it's not just because they declared war.  And IMO the whole religion angle is more like an excuse for what is basically a geopolitical struggle.

I can't think of anyone else who has declared war on the US in recent years. :shruggy:

It may not be a country that has declared war on us, but "some" of the members from a religion that has 2.2 billion believers are engaged in killing thousands of people in the name of their religion, that's a major problem. Especially, considering that there is no outcry from the rest of the "peaceful" Muslim population.

All Muslims are not terrorists, but just about all of the terrorism in the world is committed by Muslims.

Western movies, hell go to modern day Compton or in Detroit around say, Livernois and 94 and try it.  Or for that matter any American inner city or gang infested area and see well politeness thrives.
(incidentally, the unarmed Canadians are rightly or wrongly stereotyped as being among the most polite nations around)

Dude, need to update your list of go to cities to namecheck when talking about high crime, destitute areas.

Compton is actually...I don't want to go as far as saying "nice", but its certainly not the epitome of urban decay and violence it once was. There are a LOT worse places even in middle America, trust me. Lots of college educated, upwardly mobile, high income - esp. 2nd-3rd gen hispanics - young people are moving into that area and turning it around.

But your point is taken and I must digress...

The vast, vast majority of people killed by extremist Muslim terrorism are the "peaceful" Muslim population.

That's the popular idea over here.  Check some good unbiased long-term data and see what you find.

Fair enough lol.  The last time I was in LA was over a year ago and all my time was spent in Beverly Hills and Burbank.  I hold firm on Livernois in Detroit. ;)
