Hey guys,
I did an engine swap from a 1978 to a 1969 440. (the 78 was cracked).
The builder and I noticed that there is a difference ni the way the P/S pump bracke bolts to the blocks.  On the 78, the block is threaded below the pump and on a on the 1969 block it is not.  Now the pump is not stable when the engine is running bacue I am missing one attach point.
Can anyone show me how the P/S brackets should fit on a 69 block (or what the bracket differences are)? (I have the 73 FSM, but it is of no help in this case)
Thanks
Vic

Just 6T9 CHGR

The PS pump attaches to the water pump housing.  Are you using the earlier model pump housing or the '78 one?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply!
Yes, the engine builder reinstalled the 78 bracket....(the best he could, its now out of line with the other pulleys).
We didn't know about the block differences (even with all of our research).
Do you know if a 69 bracket will work with the other 78 pulleys?  If not do you have any suggestions?
Very respectfully
Vic
