Wow... No thanks.  Some folks I just don't get. ,

Your right crazy bidding. An original seal can't be a better quality than the new seals can they?

Dino

40+ year old rubber...yeah that may not seal so well anymore.

To run with the BIG DOGS you better have stupid money to spend on stuff that's hardly seen.  :brickwall:

I have one of those, in a box out of the weather for 40 years it'll be just fine (although mine's a bit dusty from being open in a body shop for some time).  Tough to find with that little 2482852 number.  They've been trading around $1000 for a couple of years now.  & the reproductions do not have the same profile, factory ones have a lip that projects below the trunk lip it is attached to in some areas.

One of the repro weatherstrips available out there has that lip that projects down past the trunk lip. I think the Metro SuperSoft are the ones that have it.  :scratchchin:
Still, no part number though.  :rotz:

Luckily my original is still in good condition. How come he wants $20 to ship something that should only cost $5 to ship :shruggy:  LEON.

Dang. And it isn't newbies driving the price up either.

How hard is it to make an accurate repro then?

I don't think anyone actually cares to make an accurate seal.  As long as it works, I believe that most buyers would be satisfied; not that these cars actually see RAIN or anything...

Mine does, and lots of it.  But the repro seals will work just fine.  The water comes through the vinyl top trim anyway.

If the demand is so great, why doesn't someone repop them part number and all?  I can see it happening in the future.

That's just it-I don't think there's a demand for it.  That NOS auctions is for the pedigree crowd...

A383Wing

if there was a part number molded on it like OE, Ma Mopar would want get cut out of the pie. Same probably holds true for the repop seals not being "exact" like ours are, that way nobody can say you copied my part

Ghoste

I wonder how much more it would add to the cost though?  If it were realistic I would certainly pay more for a repro part that is more accurate.

There is a demand for sure. I'll take 3 "correct" repops. If you are going to repop something why can't you do it correctly. Why does everything have to be half assed close. Where is Dave Walden?

Dear reproduction mfr, while you're making this perfect reproduction part please design it so it doesn't leak water inside the trunk.  :D

I don't think that is the concern that it was back in the day. Most if not all of our cars rarely see enough water to cause any problems. How good are the current incorrect repop seals at keeping water out? Not any better than the originals I suspect.

A383Wing

the repop seals and weather-strips are fine for all my cars...no water enters and seals tight...

if you are getting water in, I would say it's installed incorrectly

that's soo , true  , said this hundreds of times  , why repop something that's nearly , almost / that will do , if its seen  in the dark looks   right  :P :shruggy: , with todays materials & manufacturing processes , supposedly far superior than 50 years ago , why cant they  repop something exactly , makes no sense at all to me !!

think the price of this weather strip is nuts  , ( looks like a couple of buddies of the seller are bidding on it too  ) IMO its insane price for a bit of rubber with a embossed part number on , BUT if your restoring a XS29 / XX29   J or L code charger , to OEM standards , &  you have lots of NOS parts going on the car already , what you going to do  NOS is NOS  , repop is repop  mans got to do what a mans got to do  ;) :yesnod:

still think its crazy  :o
