I think she probably cares more about the original Eleanor rather than the 2000 movie car. Plus there have been so many replicas made of that car in 14 years it's insane.

It was my understanding that she owned all the cars from the movie.  I could be wrong on that part.  I know she sold the Porsche that jumped out of the dealer show room a few years ago.  However, after looking it up, I guess she's sold one of the remaining 3 cars in '09:   http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/19/barrett-jackson-2009-gone-in-60-seconds-eleanor-movie-car/

It wouldn't cost much.  Those 1971-73s are cheap even when they are straight & solid, let alone a raggedy crashed one.




But you'd have to put a sign on it at shows to explain what it is and why you bashed up a nice car.  

(Everyone will assume you started with a nice clean car, just because people at shows are that idiotic & frustrating.)

My older brother had a q-code 71 mustang back when we were younger and he would pull some crazy dumb shit in that car. I can't tell you how many high speed police chases he got into and got away From in that car but it was quite a few. I remember one time I had detectives come to my door asking about a 71 mustang and eluded them threw 3 city's and got away. The plates came back to me. Can't tell you how pissed I was that he took my extra plates and got into another chase.   I swear he thought he was maindrain pace in that car.

I can't STAND the original movie.  Actually the original is so bad it doesn't deserve to be called a movie, more like a demolition derby caught on city streets and film.  As for the remake, it's about stealing cars and somehow justifying criminal behavior so I'm not a fan of that one either.  I DO love the remake Eleanor though-that is one beautiful restomod and the only good thing from the entire franchise.  Burn everything else!

I think the original is miles better than the remake. Lots of cool cars. Real crashes. No cgi. And was done on a low budget by a fairly regular guy that wrote, directed and produced. I think it turn out great. I'm tired of watching new movies with fake stunts and over the top cgi. Second movie sucks besides Angelina Jolie but that's Hollywood for ya. Don't care much for the restomod 67gt 500.

The original chase is a bash-fest.  But at least it uses that carnage to make the chase feel real.  I wouldn't want every car chase movie done that way but I'm glad somebody did it once. 

The remake had the car doing every slide & maneuver perfectly.  It never gets a scratch except for a few specific incidents written into the script.  It detracts from the realism IMO.

For chase scenes, I'd take the original (I maintain my stance that it's a better chase scene than Bullitt).  For the movie on a whole, I'd go with the remake.  I enjoyed both very much though.

I'd love to build an Eleanor, thinking it would probably cost about as much as my Charger resto.  Maybe one day

IMO the entire muscle & ponycar world owes the '67 Eleanor a huge debt of thanks.  We don't even realize how much.  


The '67 Eleanor appears in 2000 --> Ford restyles the Mustang to look like a '67 fastback in 2005. 

The 2005 Mustang --> the modern Chally & Camaro and the new horsepower war.

One of the original movie cars - as far as i know - is still owned by the owner of CVS in hollywood - at least it was there when I worked with them about a year ago - i heard it was sent to a Mecum auction last year...         it was a pretty nice car even though i am not a mustang guy
