Nice car, I think. Not sure how the price stacks up against condition, but the color combo looks great  :Twocents:

And a 383/4bbl car, too  :coolgleamA:

Very nice, reminds me of the the one(s?) they used for the first ads and brochures in 66.

66FBCharger

Nice. The price seems high. I'm guessing that is worth around $18,000.

Very nice example of the first generation Charger....but the price for a 383 auto car is somewhat high all things considered.......

Love the color combo!  Btw there were lot's of 383-4bbl first gen cars built....if I recall 1/3rd had this engine.

I asked the seller awhile back when the car was listed about the turn signals (believe those are the spears you are referring to) and he indicated that some of the 66s had the turn signals near the end of the model year.

HeavyFuel

I love the interior of the 1st gens....IMO, its superior to the 2nd/3rd.

If it could easily be transfered into the later gens....wow.....that would be the best of both worlds.

I'm not buying that one.

I'm not buying that one.

Me neither.  It would've required a one of a kind forward lamp harness if Chrysler built it that way in 1966.  No fender mounted turn signals (that I'm aware of) were available on any Chrysler vehicles until 1967.

A383Wing

no fender indicators on a 66 was available, started that in 67, those have been added on. Looks like rear window lower chrome is missing as well. It's an early car, has the 65 suspension which is hard to get parts for...gauges inside are faded also...I didn't see any engine pics.....

Price is way out of line to me

I went back and checked the response I received (from the current seller no less) and you are right.  I had forgotten about the response when I asked him why the turn signals on the 66.  He indicated this was the 89,523rd Charger built.  With only about 32,000 (can't recall exact number) the seller is clearly off the mark casting a fair amount of doubt on the rest of his response.  Below is the email response I received

"Yes they are original, late production '66 had them,  but not the side marker lights added to the '67. This Documented 1966 was the 89,523rd Charger built, was built on Jan 4th 1967, was a special order by the Customer, not bought "off the lot".

Lot's of red flags (aka bullshit) in that owner's statement.  :coocoo: .....the last five digits of the VIN is 89523. :loser:

chargerperson

Not to pile on, but the front and rear medallions are quite faded as well and the chrome on left rear quarter is a bit rough

TUFCAT

Isn't that '66 Charger supposed to be parked at the "Roy L. Fuchs Auto Emporium"?   :shruggy:

It's the 89,523rd VIN assigned for that plant for that year. VINs were not assigned by make and model.

FWIW...

Car 177064 has an SPD of Dec 14th.
Car 190230 has an SPD of Jan 5th. So you are looking at a very late December or, most likely, early January build on this car. Certainly not 'late' for the model year.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

A383Wing

yea, the owner is full of crap with statements above....

Late build in January?  The 66 Charger was a mid year introduction with the first public notice coming during the Rose Bowl.  One of the reasons I have to shake my head whenever some pundit calls it a sales flop.

ITSA426

Don't know if it was just a typo, but Dodge wasn't building any 66s in January of 1967.
