JB400

Don't know what he was thinking :shruggy:  The cars that he showed just showed the original color, not the actual car itself.  I would have rather seen the car he was selling.

doctor4766

Gotta love a '69

myk

He posts a misleading ad yet everyone else is the jerk?

sunfire69

Oh what the Heii...I flagged it too... ;D

Ghoste

Has anyone asked for real pics?

XS29L9Bxxxxxx

Why post pics of a 68, and not the real car?  ::)

wingcar

The picture was taken in England......"What the?"  that's some distance from Phoenix!

This seller is an idiot.  Post pics of what is really for sale or GTFO!   :flame:

Been there as well. Lots of pics AND I even had a fellow go look at it for me.  Man was I disapointed when it rolled off the flatbed.
Moral of the story:  Always, ALWAYS go look at the car in person!  :brickwall:

polywideblock

this is a common practice in "autabuy" classified mag  too you always have to read ALL the add, it   will say pic is of similar car or pic is for representational purposes only   :eek2:

This is written at the end of the add, I agree, I would like to see what's for sale in the add but showing what it will look like isn't fraud.

"Picture shows original colors and is not of the car for sale"

Dino

No it's not fraud, but it seriously stupid.  You're selling a car, put some friggin' effort into it.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

wingcar

If the car isn't suitable for pictures.....then don't post any.  It may not be fraud, but it's bordernine dishonesty in my mind, and what is the seller trying to hide by not posting pictures of the real thing?
What he has for sale must be a real winner if he doesn't feel it's worth posting a picture of it.....

If he's asking $25,000 for it then pictures are suitable.  Even if it is buried under junk in the back of a garage pics are suitable.  Even if it on the back 40 axle deep in a swamp pics are suitable.  If it's in a shop disassembled then have the guy at the shop snap some pics and forward.

Hell, even that 'least usable Charger shell' car I posted about had plenty of pics.  In this day and age there really is no reason there should not be any pics in an online ad.  If he can post pics of other cars then he can figure out how to post pics of his car.

Buyers like to know what they are going to get in to.  But to that end, if someone can't be bothered to post pics then I suppose I can't be bothered to come close to the asking price on my offer on a car.

I want to say I met this guy before but he didnt act like a dick in the craigs ad.  He had a hemi in his 69 and a 440 block lying around.

Mike DC

A musclecar seller is posting a deceptive ad.  Stop the presses.

There's no law against selling things with crappy ads.  If we don't like it then we don't have to buy it.  I agree that substitute car pics are on the ragged edge of fraud but so is half the text in classified ads every day.

There's also no law saying a seller has to be reasonable.  If somebody wants to offer a 318 car with a BIN of $500,000, well, we don't have to buy it.  It's not an outrage.  It's not proof the prices in the hobby are crazy.  It doesn't mean a damn thing unless someone actually pays him that much for it.

DadsCharger00

Wait is that the car you looked at for me?
