I just had a TKO 600 swapped in (4.30 rear).  The speedo reads off by about 10% (it says I am doing 63 when I am actually doing 57).  I know I need to swap the speedometer gear, but I don't know where the best place to go to get one is, what gear I need (I do not know the one I have yet), and whether there are some considerations between the (Ford?) gears which I gather it uses) and the Mopar speedometers.  Can someone school me on this.  Pretty please.... :icon_smile_big:
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

The Ford gear should fit your Mopar speedometer cable so I would go to a Ford dealer and tell him what you have so he can calculate what speedometer gear you need.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I believe the TKO 600 comes with either a 7 or 8 tooth speedo drive gear, you'll need to know which one you have and the diameter of your rear tires to select the correct gear.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

John,

Do you mean some came with 7 and others came with 8?  Online, I see 7 listed.  I did the math using my tires, and guess what, it came out with 22.37 teeth.  The only ones I see made are 21 and 23 teeth.  The 23 tooth gear is not supposed to be as durable because of the number of teeth (I guess they are thinner).  They are $10 on mail order so I might go with 21, and try.

I think this will make it read about 2-3 mph too high at 60.

If there are 8 AND 7 drive tooth gears then my calculations will need to redone.

Thanks everyone.  This is a help.

WHEN I ORDERED MY TRANS FROM KEISLER THEY ASKED REAR END RATIO AND TIRE DIAMETER, SIZE AND SUPPLIED ME THE CORRECT SPEEDO GEAR. YOU HAVE TO DROP TRANS CROSS MEMBER DOWN TO GET CABLE OUT OF MEMORY SERVES ME CORECTLY
