I've been a member on this site since  around 06 and lots of good info on here but i must say that posting pics on here is hard as hell and should be changed.
Some one should start a poll of how many  people would like it changed .

Posting pictures is easy when you use places like Photobucket and copy and paste IMG codes.

Welcome to Photobucket!

To help you get the most out of your Photobucket, here are some quick instructions to get you started.

1. Upload photos to your account. See which option below works best for you:
•Desktop Uploader for Windows or Mac: Uploading has never been easier! Install this application on your computer, and you can upload directly to your account without having to log in to your account through the browser. Once you have it installed and your account synced up, you can either drag/drop the images into the program or set up a folder that will auto upload to your account.
•Upload through the browser: Easily drag and drop files from your computer into the browser to instantly upload to your account. You also have the option to browse through your files.
•Mobile (Android, iPhone, iPad): You also have the option to upload directly from a mobile device with one of our user-friendly mobile apps
•Email or MMS: This is a great way to upload without being directly connected to your account. Just attach the image, send it to the correct address and the image will be uploaded automatically to your account.
•Import your Facebook albums: Have a Facebook account? You can import your Facebook albums directly to your account in one easy move.

2. Once you have the media uploaded, you need a place to put it!

•Creating Albums is a great way to separate memories and organize your photos. All of these albums will live in your Library which makes it easy to locate your stored photos. There are three spots where you can create an album: during upload, from the albums page, or from the header.
•Adding Tags to your photos makes it simple for others to bring them up during a search.
•We also have a great Organizer (upper right corner of the album/library) tool that helps you view the photos the way you want them to be seen
•Editing your photos gives them a personal flair. We have a great editor on the site, Pixlr. Play around with it to learn all of the functions, it's fun!

3. Now it's time to share your images!

•Sharing your photos with friends and family takes little effort.
•You can use our link codes to easily add images to your blog or forum. You can also send a direct link to your album for easy one-click access.
•Sharing on different sites or social media can be done in a snap using the share buttons.
•Set Privacy Settings in your account and for your albums, making it easy to hide photos you'd like to keep private or show the photos you wish to share with friends and family. Privacy settings for your account and albums can be changed from one location in your User Settings, or you can adjust each album individually.
•Need to find friends to share photos with? Use our Find Friends tool to hook up your Gmail/Yahoo contacts, Facebook friends and Twitter followers. From there you can find friends who already have a Photobucket account, and those that need to be invited so they can join in the fun!

Posting pictures is probably the #1 gripe about the site. Solution: send money.

It's a free site (for you) running on free software. Commercial applications have better features. Unfortunately, it costs me just under $200 per month to keep the site running and I, obviously, don't have an unlimited budget. The site has been under my control since 2005 so do the math.

On top of that there's time. I *could* program the site myself - I just don't have time or energy to do it. So it goes back to paying someone else. Just like a car! When I do have time (hopefully soon), I plan to upgrade the software to make it easier BUT it still won't make it fool proof for someone trying to upload a picture from their 17 megapixel camera. Bandwidth and server resources aren't exactly cheap. So, the software upgrade is delayed while I work out a new hosting solution. I don't want to do it twice! It should give us more features and lower the cost at the same time.

My only gripe with the photo policy is the inability to post the same pic twice without changing its name...I doubt if this is related to money.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Use Windows Paint.
Right click the pic and click "Open with" and choose Paint (the default is Windows Photo Viewer)
Once open in Paint, click the "Resize" button at the top and shrink the horizontal (vertial changes automatically when selecting horizontal) to say 20%.
Re-save and done.

I tried posting pics from a file that i had 4 pics in it and it kept saying i had to change file name on every pic .

Blame that on people who "did it wrong". Some people couldn't figure out how to do a "signature" pic and would upload the exact same picture on every post (or at least on a LOT of posts). The server would happily rename the file and save the copy. This is a double edged problem - and it's a big one! First, the server had hundreds of extra copies eating up hard drive space (which costs money). Second, whenever anyone would view the post it would have to retrieve and send each individually named file across the internet (which costs money) - essentially sending a truckload of photos when a messenger bike would do. Since they all had a different name browsers had no idea they were the same and couldn't "cache" a picture for reuse. Well, it could cache all of them. I hate that I had to do it but we were on the verge of overloading the server within weeks of me enabling that feature.

Unlike other sites, I refuse to delete old files because "a picture is worth a thousand words" when it comes to the tech sections. The good news is that hard drive space, memory, and bandwidth continue to go down in price while our storage and usage requirements increase. Hopefully the next configuration will allow me to significantly bump the storage without having to purchase a massive server. Then I'll turn the "auto rename" function back on.

Posting pics on this forum is fairly easy, & I ain't no computer whiz.  :shortbus:
Just make sure that they are less than 200KB in size (should be VERY easy to resize a photo in any photo program), make sure they end in the correct file type (jpg, gif, png, pdf), and make sure they have a name that hasn't been used before. If you get a name error, sometimes just making one small change is enough to get it to post.
There are forums out there that are MUCH harder to attach photos...
