Somehow, Fall has snuck up on me. I decided to drive my Charger as much as the weather and fuel budget would allow until I have to stop for this year. I drove it to work last Friday and Monday. I am planning on driving it to work at least one day this week. Tomorrow is predicted to be nice out.
So, for all you guys that like to see Chargers "out in the wild", keep your eyes peeled. You just might see me out on I 84 or on I 91 (in Ct.) the next few weeks!

Glad to see you are out and about in her. Mine hits a little car show this weekend and maybe a few more rides into work. I didn't realize you had slotted mags on her.   :2thumbs:

I recall when your Charger was for sale. I almost set TUFCAT over to look at it but can't remember why not.  :scratchchin:  I know it was right around the time I picked mine up here in CT.

That just jogged my memory......was the car from Clinton Township, MI?

I don't recall what Township she was from. It was on our DC.com classifieds as well as on Ebay where it didn't sell. I flew to Detroit to check it out and bought it on the spot. The car was from Wisc.(I believe from Appleton). The story I have is the car was traded in to a used car lot in Wisc. for a newer 4 dr. Charger. Someone drove the car to the Mopar Nats and it was in the Car Corral. A family from Detroit bought it and drove it home to Detroit. They then decided to sell it since they really wanted a '69 road runner convertible (if I remember correctly). They bought a road runner and decided to sell the R/T.

The slots went on a few years ago. They were supposed to be for the wife's 73 cuda 340 but I discovered after buying the tires that the fronts would not fit over the front calipers so they ended up on the Charger. They look good, but were not my first pick for rims.

I'm looking forward to getting out of bed tomorrow to go to work, since I plan to drive the Charger. The car is truly enjoyable to drive. I have been slowly making minor upgrades and repairs the last several years. Ditching the redlines (though I LOVED the look) in favor of the radials made a huge difference and made the car feel predictable and safer. Changing the Edelbrock AFB for a Holley 750 vacuum secondary and a Firecore ignition made the engine start quickly and consistently and got rid of the poor throttle response and hesitation. Correcting all the little things (clutch linkage etc.) that had been jerry rigged over the years all helped to make the car reliable and fun to drive.
She runs awesome. The ride is very comfortable with the Bilstein shocks replacing the air shocks and blown out front shocks. Driving the car is an experience. You can drive with the windows down and not get beat to death from the wind.
Since I just turned 50 last month, I want to drive the Charger and enjoy the experience of driving the car with all my senses, It is more important to me to drive and row through the 4 speed and hear the roar of the exhaust as I am pushed back into the seat than having a mint body and paint at this point in my life. Maybe someday I'll go through it, but right now I am having too much fun driving, to tear it apart and lose the use of it.
So, in summary, get out there guys and DRIVE your Chargers! That's what I'll be doing!

That's what it's all about.   :2thumbs:

I used to drive mine to work every day from May through November.  Unfortunatly I can't do the same driving it to school because student can't park to save their lives.

Here's a tip for driving with the window down when it gets a bit colder: if you flick the vent window open as well, it'll deflect the cold air that otherwise hits your elbow.  Give it a shot.   :yesnod:

I also drove mine in today. I'll have to check the weather for tomorrow. I have a full tank of premium so that will last me a few roundtrips.

I always find it humorous how many Charger photos are taken next to gas pumps.

Looking good.
