Soon I'll be reaching a point where I have to start thinking of an exhaust system for my 440. Running JE flat pistons - 30 over, Engle K58 hyd. cam 112* CL, Weigand dual plane intake w/ 1" spacer, 800 cfm Edelbrock #1813 carb, INDY EZ heads ported stage II, stock manifolds (I know, I know headers, but I like the stock look) :rotz:. I don't want a loud set up. 440 put out a nice rumble as it is. I'm looking for more performance than sound. Would like suggestions or recommendations from both experts and other users. Would like to know source too. Thanks guys.

I agree that the cars sounded good stock, even though I much prefer the "Flowmaster" type sound. If a stock sound is what you want, copy the stock exhaust system. Summit or Jegs have 2-1/2 inch manifold back systems for a good price (w/H-pipe), and Midas, Mieneke (sp?), and other muffler shops have 2-1/2 inch, reverse flow (stock) replacement mufflers available.

What you are asking for is quite easy to obtain. Headers would of course provide better performance, but the stock Mopar exhaust was better than any other "production" exhaust system, so copying it is hard to improve on for a stock type system.

I've been speaking with TTi's rep and I might go with the 2.5" dia. "X" pipe and dyno Max Super Turbo's mufflers for performance. I might clamp everything up to size on the Charger, then drop the exhaust system enough so that I can get over the connections with the MIG wand and weld everything up. Coat the weld with a high temperature coating/paint and re-install. I like the clean look. They are pricey though! :yesnod:

:iagree: that or the 3" x pipe is wot I'm going for ,  i would be inclined to   leave the  clamped connections , i have never heard a bad thing about tti only it is a bit pricey, it looks dam good  and well made though !

I went with the TTi 2.5" system with the stock looking H pipe.  I used Accurate's stainless steel exhaust tips.

Everything bolted up perfectly and although we did consider welding everything in place we opted not to.  You never know if you'll need to remove it for some reason or another.

I posted some pics of the install in the thread below.

I remember now after viewing the link. You did a nice job! You have a point there about "what if.." considering the welding of the pipes. I'll decide when I get to that point. Did you go with the Dyno Max Turbo mufflers?

I went with what came with the system which was Dynomax.

I heard others mentioned and although I like a mean sounding car, I want to enjoy driving it.  I heard stories about ringing ears and headaches - no fun.

The car sounds good at idle and low rpm's but when you really lay on the pedal, it sends a message to anyone around that the green machine means business.  I am please with the exhaust system, the fit and the install and the look and as mentioned above the sound.

I found a local TTi dealer from their web site and they sold it to me for a fair and reasonable price and shipped it right to the farm.
