Is it a process of doing then in step by step process. closed, 1/2 open, and then fully open? I've got a set that I want to paint and put on the car. The paint was ordered to match the car in spray can.

Do them fully open. Thats the position you'll see them in & gets most of it. LEON.

Remove the spring and mount them so you can move the hinge while you paint it.  If that doesn't work then do what Leon said because you'll never see them folded shut.   :yesnod:

And try to spray the areas where they rub as thin as you can while still getting coverage. Otherwise they tend to scrape the paint off,and may still do that even you are careful.

Thanks, I have both of them in primer and both sides in the closed position. Tomorrow, I'll open them and continue with the primer.
