This is how i stay busy when i'm stuck indoors thru the winter, i'll spend a few months working on a couple scale model builds just for fun! I built many a model years ago as a kid, some of which have done well out at the Mopar Model Car Nats at the Mopar Nats and have even been seen in Mopar Collectors Guide's coverage of the event. It's been over 10 years since i've been out to the Nats but one of these years i'll bring this model out to compete hopefully along with the full scale version!! Last winter before i started the tear down of my 1:1 '68 Charger i built this 1:24 model as a scale version of how i intend on my real '68 looking like when it's complete! The paint is Tamiya Mica Red sprayed over a silver base to give it a slight candy affect. Then i clear coated it with Testors High Gloss Lacquer clear coat followed by a complete wet sanding with 3400-12000 grit polich pads, and finished with Micro Mesh polish and swirl remover! I also after it's good and cured throw on a coat of Race Glaze Polish/Wax which really makes the shine deep! I detailed the engine bay with plug wires, throttle cable and return spring, fuel lines, battery cables and some little odds and ends. I used the body from Revells 69 Charger Kit becuase it has a "molded in" vinyl top with all trim, just how my 1:1 car will be, and i used plain old Satin White Krylon spray which give just the right sheen/texture to mimic a vinyl top pretty well. Bare Metal Foil covers all of the window trim. The wheels on the car are aftermarket from a company called Pegasus Wheels, they are called "Chrome T's" and are meant to be scale 19" on 1:25 scale models, so maybe 17-18" for a 1:24 kit. They look like a modern version of Torque Thrust's! The tires i found in my parts stash, came from some hot rod kit i believe. I hat to do some suspension mods to make the wheels/tires fit, and to correct the stock kits wheel base length problem. Over all i'm happy with the way it came out, and i love the color so much i'm thinking about spraying out a panel with the same paint and having the paint shop match it up in actual automotive paint when the times comes time to paint the big Charger!! Here's a few pics, enjoy!

Hard Charger

I switched to armor models to get the realistic finish.

Some of the modelling skills you folks have just blow me away.  I have a bunch in the basement to assemble someday but they'll not likely look like that.
