Hi Aero Folks,
Must be really old picture?
That's a paint scheme from the 70's!
Are people that own JunkYards so stupid they would crush rare Muscle-cars? :scratchchin:

I heard that Folks used to leave Wingcars in their gardens/lots to rust away merrily.
How could this happen?
Everyone knows how rare Wingcars are 'DON'T THEY' ??? :'( ::) :rotz: :spank:

Jon still looking for one too LOL!!! :eyes:

I don't think its a Challenger TA in front of it, I think its an early 70's Camaro with a 71 Road Runner on top of it?

the photo isn't sad. it is the reality of what automobiles went through. they were driven, worn out, and discarded.

that they are coveted today only messes with most people's perspective.

Right.... No different than seeing say a 2004 Cadillac DTS in perfect condition other than a blown head gasket getting crushed and/ or parted out..... Sad but a fact of life

I have an 04 DTS BTW and it drives me nuts to see ones in better overall condition in the junkyard

that nose would likely have been saved, had it not been leaded on. same for the window plug. the wing appears to be gone. no one probably thought about the a-pillar trim. outside of the aero parts, there really wasn't anything special about the car at that time.

the cadillac is a good modern example of the same thing. and look at the countless, pristine condition LH cars that were scrapped due to blown 2.7 engines.

During the gas crunch of the 70's "rare muscle cars" were a dime a dozen - frequently parted and crushed for quick cash by businessmen and individuals who were looking for a profit that month. They were not looking into a crystal ball thinking they might profit even more 10-15+ years later.

The car under the Datsun on the right really shows how cars just crumpled well into the passenger compartment back then. I doubt that was survivable.

Highbanked Hauler

That blue 500 that somebody got a pix. of from Moparts was the top car on a pile like that. Back at that time anything was just another car.  About 1974 I saw 2 500's at a production salvage yard . One was orange and had been barrel rolled a few times and the other was green that had driven into something. It needed a bolt on nose and I don't remember how bad it was under the hood but by today's standards it could have been repaired in a minute but at that time it was just another car as was everything else. :'(

The wheels, engine, and front suspension appear to have been the only items considered of value.....oh yeah, that wing thing also :icon_smile_wink:.  I can see the seats are still there along with glass, etc.

Even if metal wasn't all that scarce,  its very strange these cars weren't picked apart better...

One would think a considerable amount of money left was left on the table in parts, even for a junkyard operating few decades ago.   :scratchchin:

I'm sure that wing is on another car  :yesnod:

Yes, you're right.  I first saw the stripe under the 1/4 window and took the two as being part of an over the roof strobe stripe.
