Struggling with the install of a stoplight switch on the bracket of my 74. Is there a trick to this? Do you remove the Spring Clip, install it and then push in the switch? Or just press in the springs and press in the whole unit. This shouldn't be that difficult!

Press the button and slide the connector end through the hole.  Then press the switch in there.  Those little springs should be tight but hold it secure.
Take a look at this auction ... good pictures.

2926275 unless you have speed control then the switch is 2947798. Then that screws in with a nut on the end.

I just removed the old one so I know how it looks installed. I was pressing as hard as I could. I'm afraid to break it, if I force it much more. The old one was hard to get out. Funny how simple things can be so difficult sometime. I was hoping for some magic advice. It's easy you just do it like this.......

sometimes the hole will need to be enlarged, the new switch is not the right size

I mean is it close? Is it a little WD40 time? Or is the plastic just too big and as Bryan said, you have to make the hole bigger?

It is close, I don't really want to make the hole bigger. I'll try some WD40. I'm thinking it might go easier if I remove the spring clip, install it, a little WD40 on the plastic switch, and push that through the installed spring clip. Thanks guys.

Put the sleeve in the bracket, then push the switch into the clip
