Advertise Components or Dumpster??

In the process of building my new 440 engine, I bought a back-up engine and stripped it down to get the block.
Is there any value in advertising these parts for sale of should they find themselves to a dumpster.  In addition to the pictures below, there are 2 cast cranks and the set of piston rods.

Very few people will be interested in this stuff. For the heads you might find a few bucks. Exhaust manifolds are scrap, unlikely to find much interest in later intake, zero interest in cast cranks or main caps.

Like the old saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure" I'm sometimes amazed at how well "junk" sells on Craigslist. Put an ad on Craigslist and price the parts just above scrap iron value, if they sell you're money ahead.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I have spent the last two years downsizing and have had a hard time unloading stuff that used to sell easy. Even at give-away prices, there are few calls  :shruggy:   I'll never confess what was in the final load a few weeks ago that went to the scrapper  :icon_smile_blackeye:

Thank you
One of the cranks will see the dumpster today.
The rest over time.

I am doing the same thing. Their is way too much stuff in my shop but everything has value to someone.  Hooking this stuff up with who needs it is time consuming and I just don't want to spend the time.  I don't even want to drive a load to the scrapper.

This is one of the ways parts get harder to find. :shruggy:

Keep the caps, don't take much room. I have some of the other items. Could not sell on craigslist. Offer for free with shipping and handling in the swap meet section?   I don't think you can give those intakes away. I scraped mine when iron prices where high.

I'm a "you never know when you'll need it" kind of guy.
I'd rather give it to someone that can/will use it than toss it in a dumpster.
If you are only going to toss it, put an ad on Craigs list ... FREE!
Someone will come and get it!   ;)

Don't have a scrap metal dealer nearby? I'd give it away free before dumping it.

Whenever I end up with parts/tools or anything else that 'may' be of value to someone I take it out to the curb with a free sign.  I have never had to take anything back in except the free sign.  It saves me a trip and if someone else wants it then have at it!

:iagree:

I thought the same when doing an iron to aluminum head swap. I figured, who's gonna want these iron boat anchor heads?  :shruggy:
I put 'em up on Craigslist. Sold them in less than a week, for some decent money too. Some guy needed them for his project.  :yesnod:

I am a pack rat but I have to stop.  I have tried Craigs list and don't have a need to save the parts.  My engine was dyno'd and good.  My original engine is in a box.  Extra Heads and manifolds?????
