Edelbrock 1406 linkage question

I just received the 1406 to test and there's a piece of linkage on there that's not on my 1407.  It needs to move for the secondaries to open so how exactly does this work and why is it on one carb but not the other?  1406 is on the left.  You can see the linkage at the bottom where on the 1407 it's just a hole.

Oh and does anyone know which hole to use for the accelerator pump linkage for a street cruiser?  It's on the middle one right now.

Thanks TT!  I had a manual but it's slightly different.  I do have the accelerator pump on the top hole on my 1407 and middle on the 1406 so that checks out.  I had the Chrysler linkage on the 1407 so I transplanted that.   :2thumbs:

I can't find anything about the lower linkage though.  Could it be for the choke?  When the engine is cold the choke prevents the secondaries from opening?   :shruggy:

hmmm   with out looking  that lower linkage , is a same /smilar set up to the OEM carter AVS ,  i forget exactly now  , but think when you open the throttle a certain amount  with the choke on ,  it  over rides the choke  &  opens the choke blade  ,

i cant really remember  , ive had a brain fart  :icon_smile_blackeye:  will go & have a look later ( prolly be  tomorrow now ) at the thunder & original avs , if no one comes up with the answer  ,

is there a secondary throttle shaft  in the one with the linkage missing ?   only  it   looks like the secondaries shaft is missing !!
