They play Zebra here few times a month yet.

For me, there really isn't no new bands out there I like a lot that I listen to much. Hinder & Closure would be about the newest hard rock band. Although I know a few radio stations play them now.

Headrope

Butt Butane and the Blue Flames .. kidding.
For me it's not so much what bands' songs aren't played as it is the ones that are. I like a little bit of everything, but not the same five songs per station over and over and over and - pausing for a commerical break - over, and over, and now for traffic, over and over and ... you get the point.
Sixty-eights look great and the '69 is fine.
But before the General Lee there was me - Headrope.

They still around? Saw them in all the bars in Northern NJ & Southern NY state back in the early 80's.

Here's my "short" list. Almost everything I've ever listened to since High School is never on the radio, but that's good because I never get sick of it. Chances are, if it's on the radio, I don't like it.  ::)

King Crimson
Popa Chubby
Morphine
Bill Bruford
Bill Frissell
Savoy Brown
Gong
Tangerine Dream
Jeff Beck
NIN
Genesis (with Peter Gabriel, forget the newer stuff)
Chemical Brothers
Jimmy Smith
Weather Report
R.L. Burnside

A lot of different Jazz, but not the dooby dooby do ba, Ella Fitzgerald stuff.

OM, I like alot of the same stuff, especially the Genesis with Peter Gabriel. I recently discovered this AOL music and they have a progressive music station that plays alot of good stuff like that. As far as radio goes, except for the little station i listen to up in Westport NY ive given up on it.  F clearchannel!!

Old Moparz

derailed,

That's cool someone else has heard of a lot of those bands. The only radio staions I ever have on at all, are the college stations. In my area, Newburgh, NY, there's WVKR from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie. They even have an internet broadcast you can get on line. In NJ when I'm down there, it's WFUV from Fordam University in the Bronx.

I'm actually going to replace my old worn old receiver with an intergrated amp & may not bother with a tuner at all. Satellite radio on my dish receiver has a lot of variety, but still not as much as I'd like. I have to bump up the Spring Carlisle thread later & see who else wants to grab a cold one.

Bob, Im going to look into seeing if I can get a room in a place in Enola for the hell of it. Where i stay now is about 40 minutes to the fairgrounds and if I can get down closer it would be better and probably make for some more fun afterwards.

Telvis

Captain and Tennile.....Muskrat love....Boxcar Willie and my all time favorite Zamfir master of the pan flute.  :D

Go Finland go. As everyone knows those are Finnish bands  ;)
HIM I saw first time back in 1997 when they weren't so famous yet. I was sitting within a meter from stage drinking beer in almost empty bar on thursday night.

Zebra was billed as the next Led Zep when they first came out.

I haven't thought about those guys for years.  They had some cool stuff.  I'll have to dig up an old cassette I have with a compilation of their stuff I made way back in the early '90's.

Radio programming drives me nuts.  Why do they apply a pop music format to rock stations?  People who listen to pop usually only want to hear top 40 stuff.  People who listen to rock love the genre, not just the current rock top 40.  FM radio has become irrelevant simply because their programming sucks.  I don't understand why they can't figure it out.  The average joe on the street could fix the problem.

For me, I wish I could hear Black Label Society/ Zakk Wylde, Jerry Cantrell, Lacuna Coil, Type O Negative, Megadeth, Strip Mind, Silverchair, Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Gary Hoey, Yngwie, Vanessa Mae...   I could go on forever.

Sublime, I've only heard one of there songs on the radio. RIP BN

yep!
Like i said, I got introduced to those bands by a friend that loves every thing bam margera sez... so i guess he cant be too off the mark.
My friend is on a big turbo negro kick so I think I will be getting that cd from him soon. I think they are also finnish as well?
I cant stand radio programming so I usualy listen to talk radio... not news/weather/sports right or left wing political crap. But like drew and mike on 101.1 wrif in the mornings (verry immature humor stuff) and 97.1 in the afternoon's (also very immature)

Pink Cream 69 is another you can add to my list :yesnod:

Yep, I remember an article in Hit Parader on them when I was a kid.  said something like "zebra on led zep turf"

For anyone from suffok county, I saw them at Sundance many many times.  Saw Randy Jackson by himself a few times also.
