tonight I plan on starting the partial tear down of my 440 which has been sitting on a stand since 02. It ran very good when pulled for the resto and due to funds, I will be looking to re use this motor if everything looks ok and this includes the cam.  Its an older MP 484 cam but it will be fine for my application.

Can I simply rig up a dial indicator gauge and measure how much the rockers move up and look to see if they are all the same? not sure if the lifters will change anything as they are not solid or roller, just basic hyrdraulic flat tappet.  I am not expecting to see any damage because I was pretty sure it was fine when pulled, but I want to check to be sure.  Thanks guys

Pull the intake manifold and valley pan and inspect each lobe.

Good call, ended up pulling it apart last night, each one looked pretty good, maybe one or two that were dark in a few spots, but I think its ok. Im going to start a thread on my motor for some feedback. Thanks!  :2thumbs:
