Stopped by a an associates home yesterday to pick up a few parts. I guess he was in a fall clean up mode, the original deal was to pick up a spare 440 block and crank, needless to say when I arrived, there was quite a pile on the shop floor. And on top was a pair of 500's. Does the part number change thru the years, like is a 67 rim numbered like a 69rim?

Part numbers didn't start appearing on rims until the 1970 model year. Before that - date codes only.  :2thumbs:

James,
Mopar did not manufacture the Mag 5's or the Mag 5 Road Wheels.  I believe the company name was Motor Wheel Corporation.
Having said that there is a date code on most if not all the wheels but not necessilarly a part number.
Bill440RT explained how to decode a while back in a thread when he was looking for a specifc date, but I can't find it now.
There is a M or an H then a single digit that would designate the year of manufacture.
Long story short, if he doesn't see this thread, PM him and I'm sure he can explain it.

Motor Wheel Corp. made the 5-spoke "mag" wheels (all chrome & trim ring versions) for Chrysler, Ford, GM, AMC & the aftermarket.

Find the stampings on the wheel, some are stamped on the rearward lip & some near the valve stem -  post pics or numbers and someone will help you figure out what you have.
