POR-15 engine paint

has anyone used and have pictures  of a engine painted with POR-15 ENGINE PAINT is it bad or show quality or about the same as you buy from the parts store.where do you buy the good shit at

A friend used it on his small block with good results (blue color)

I had tried the Hemi orange on my 440 (waterpump housing as a test) and didnt like the color.

Overall its seemed like a real bulletproof type of a paint but I cant offer any other suggestions

I wouldnt paint mine with por15

    i have always  used automotive 2K paint,PPG etc with no problems, out of a gun on my engines over the years, you can match the original color ,plus you can add a( matting additive)to the color witch would give  less of a  shine to the paint

I'm really holding out to see what Silver paints his with, but...

I painted my old Dart with Por-15 engine paint, and it came out really nice for the amount of effort I put into it. I painted this engine with a brush when it was like 20 degrees out. It came out great considering I didn't tape anything off or prep anything. If and when I see the car again, I'll look at how it's lasted since I put it on 3 1/2 years ago. I had it for a year after I painted it, and it looked great.

I've never used POR-15 engine paint so I can't comment on the quality or color match. If you're doing Hemi Orange, go for either PPG out of a gun. Or, as a second choice Plasti-Kote's Hemi Orange in a rattle can is also a good match, if $$$ is a factor or you don't have a compressor & spray gun. The MP Hemi Orange engine paint in a rattle can is garbage, stay away. The MP Turquoise is very good, however.

i used the hemi orange and was fairly happy with the finnish. it is tough but has chipped from abuse and it can handle carb cleaner easy and gas is no problem. i've driven it quite a few times and it still hasn't burned off of the heat cross over on the intake which makes me happy. my recommendation if you use it is thin it with por-15 thinner and spray it (i wish i had) it looks more glossy and evenly coated if you do.
