I am thinking of selling my 68 R/T. Can anyone tell me what the think it might be worth. It is an R/T no motor or trans or fender tag. It is Red with white interior. all the interior is shot, floors are rusty, trunk floor rusty, Quarters rusty. frame is good except the last 6 inches by the rear valance. the grille has a fist sized hole in the center of it. The car is complete. 8-3/4 rear end. the pictures are a pictures of the day I picked the car up. I know I really need to get my scanner working. I have a clear title in my name. so shoot me some ball park figures on what you think I should as for it. I am sure there will be some smart a$$ offers but thats fine I wouldn't expect anything less from you guys.

troy.70R/T

oops here are the pics

Stegs

ill give you 50 dollars for it

LOL...old cars are worth what someone is willing to pay...if its all original and numbers match...maybe 10-20k ballpark...

honestly....in the end its worth what someone will pay

Dino

I agree with the last statement, but not the price.  No fender tag or drive train and needing a full resto I would not go anywhere near $10K.  You're looking for someone who wants an R/T of course and that would not be me.  Unless it's a (very) rare optioned car, it'll never be worth what you have to invest.  Then again, wait till they make another show/movie with a charger and the price may go up again, who knows.

Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

twodko

In that dilapidated shape with no drive train........ $2000 max. If that.  :Twocents:

F8-4life

6,000-10,000, depends on how quick you want to sell it.
Clean it up as much as you can, maybe shoot it in primer.

hawkeye

If some one offered me $5000 for it, I would take it and run away laughing.

Hmm--so far the range of estimated value is 2k to 20k.
Granted this thread is new but if I was the poster I'd be thinkin not much help here yet. :slap:

This range is probably correct but tells the tale of how hard it may be to find the right buyer.---Not easy--  The key to the question is in the hands of the seller.

If the car has to go soon and one has little patience than it will be closer to the 2k number.

If the seller is waiting for the 20k buyer they may already have lost thousands of dollars on the lottery and should seek help for their problem. :Twocents:

So ---Troy.70R/T--sorry I'm not much help but I'm in the same situation that you are.  Looking for the current market value on something like this is like shooting at a moving target and you don't know what your weapon is.

1968 Dodge Charger R/T - $13000 (St. Joseph)

1968 Dodge Chargerfuel : gas transmission : automatic title status : clean
I am selling my 1968 Dodge Charger R/T. It is a real R/T not a clone. The VIN # starts with the XS29 This was origionally a 440 auto car. Red exterior White interior. And white vynial top. the motor and trans are long gone. the car is the typical mopar rust. the frame is solid except for the back 6 inches by the rear valance. fenders and doors are pretty good. the floor is bad. This car needs a total resto. The fender tag is also gone. I will be trying to post pics in the next few weeks, I just thought I would get a head start on selling it. I am not showing to anyone until I have pics posted I dont want to waste your time or mine. I do have two running 383 engines that go with the car. however both of them have the top ends apart on them so I could look to see which one I wanted to put the gasket kit in. I was going to just get it running and driving while a collected parts for it to restore it. I have a clean and clear Missouri title in my name. If I get what I want for the car I will sell it. Here are a couple pictures of pictures of what it looks like. call or text eight one six two 4 four nine eight 0 three

Thanks guys. well I am a Charger collector and in no hurry to sell. I know to some people if it was just a Charger and not an R/T it would make a big difference even without the drive train. I personally could care less if it is an R/T or not. I restored my #'s matching 70 and never want to spend that kind of money again. Or hunt down the parts. thanks for the opinions guys. keep them coming.

troy.70R/T

that is my ad 70 sublime. just threw a # out there on the local CL

troy.70R/T

I was going to change the ad to say that I would trade for a better NON R/T Charger just to see is I could get those R/T hardcore guys to offer me a trade of something in better shape.

ws23rt

Their is a chance that this thread could be helpful to those that are selling as well as buying.  But It shouldn't become a place to advertise. :Twocents:
I'd like to hear from those that have either bought or sold recently and what they paid or spent along with the description of the car.

Is this not what we all really want to know?

troy.70R/T

Yes ws23rt  Who let their Charger in my shape go for $2000.00, $5000.00, 7500.00, 10,000. BTW this is not he for sale section but it could be in that section soon.

Dino

Just say that if it doesn't sell, you're turning it into a Foose style custom.  The purist will be fighting to buy it from you.

All kidding aside, that's a sweet color combo.  Is it R4 or R6?  Or whatever the 68 equivalent to those are.

There's a few options I suppose: sell low and hope to get your money back or most of it; keep and restore but you said thatr's out; keep and turn into a drag car or Blade clone with cheap paint and seats, but it'll still be expensive and time consuming; or wait for someone who desperately wants it.  That time will come but when is anyone's guess.

I think it's reasonable to find someone who would trade a non R/T, maybe with some cash attached to it to get a solid driver.

It's worth it as well, absolutely no guilt whatsoever when taking it beyond stock and nobody cares either so they don't bug me.  Nothing like a good mutt.  I wear my arrow badges with pride!  Except the rear one, that one just looks nasty.

geez , a lot of guy's on here turning a touch heplag , more photos please ,
and whats missing troy

troy.70R/T

Not sure on the exact code for the color. The fender tag got stolen off it while it was in storage. that is also how it got the fist sized hole in the Grille. I think they thought that how you had to get into it to open the hood?? the hood does have the factory hood pin places but they are gone on the fender supports.

troy.70R/T

missing Motor Trans. Interior very rough, needs everything interior wise but he seats are there. this was a true moused up barn find.

My point   Their is a place for selling but this is the place where we talk about value.

It would be great to hear from those that have bought and sold recently. I suspect that some would be timid about the dollar amounts exchanged but that is key to understanding the market.

We can scoff at those that paid too much and congratulate those that paid little.  But what we all want to know is what is the current value.

Friends on forums cant give an honest price, lol...

troy.70R/T

Well I am not timid and I can take all your guys opinions and that is why I have asked for them. I appreciate all the good   and bad comments. The low estimates and the High estimates. Keep them coming trash the car prase the car I don't care that will just help me figure out the real value it. Thanks again for all your input guys.

Dino

Either red would be nice but I have to admit I may drool a bit when I see an R6 red Charger with white interior.  Personally I'd pass on the vinyl top even though it would still look stunning.

Maybe that's the key?---We become friends and that becomes the wall. No one want's to be seen as a fool to their friends (buyer or seller). ::)

Your real friends will tell you the truth.

troy.70R/T

well I will take some pics of the interior metal where it has not ever been repainted.
