Good Solvent for cleaning exhaust/intake valves???

Anyone familiar with a good solvent to use for cleaning up exhaust and intake valves (valves removed from Cyllinder head)

I've always used  the cheapest automotive paint thinner (gun wash) and then clean up the valve with a wire wheel attachment on a bench grinder,avoiding the top 2 thirds of the stem, and the valve seatting surface . hope this helps.
