Just changed the filter in my 727.  The manual says to tighten to 96 in lbs.  Which converts to 8 ft lbs.  Is that really all the torque needed for those bolts?
Thanks

With a new gasket, that should be fine.  The main reason for leaks is distorted pans due to over tightening.

Factory spec is 150 in. lbs.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

X2.  Put a straight edge on the pan if you have it off.

Am going by my Haynes manual.  So, you're saying I should tighten to 12.5 ft#s

I did it the old school way last time, I tightened them without a torque wrench.  Slowly and nice and snug.  No leaks so far.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Guess I'll go back a re-torque to 12.5 ft lbs.
Thanks
