great read....I can imagine being in high school and having a 69 BB charger

oh the trouble I would have got in if was in that position.........

Ive had my charger for only a few months.....the neighbors are very good about it, but I think they are getting sick of seeing all the 11's at every stop sign..... :nana: :2thumbs:

It wasn't a big deal, really. These cars were - and still are pretty slow. A fast car back when I was in school, ran 12s. Now that's commonplace  :Twocents:

True, but I'd rather drive a 15 second classic Charger than a 12 second anything else... :Twocents:

While I do not disagree, an new Camry could outrun most old Chargers. But it's still a camry  :slap:

I can relate to that story as the first half of my senior year I had a 70 Charger 500, my first of any type of car. After christmas break, I drove a 69 Charger through the end of the year and also did a last day burnout with it. Why not? Never going to be there again.

I can relate as well in the I bought my 73 in the middle of my 11th grade.  While it was only a 318 car, I still had fun in it.  The next summer became even more fun when we swapped out the top in of the 318 and the car became a bit faster.     Wish I could have put the 440 in it during that time frame, but that didn't happen until after I graduated.l

My first car was bought in 1978 at 14 . It was a 70 Charger 500 and cost me a whopping $250 . 6 months later I bought a 70 Road Runner to go with it for $135 . They both ran , needed a little body work , but not bad . Mom wasn't thrilled but Dad said good so Mom got vetoed . That was back when Men were head of the family . I worked a whole summer for those cars and back then , I put both titles in my name without insurance .
