Ok guys, want to start out by saying im very new to the aftermarket ignition upgrades.....with that in mind, here we go.

On my 69 charger it has the original ignition (points?)

Ive been reading past post about people going with a msd box (electronic?)

can someone give me a ignition 101? real basic info. Im thinking about going with msd box, what all do I need? is it hard to install? what are the benefits? is it worth the money?

I read a post that one guy said it was night/day difference....his car would idle better, better acceleration, way more power.....is this true?

sorry guys, but im new to this "old car" scene...im a jeep guy, and I never ran aftermarket ignitions....what I had always worked well

I suggest the Firecore "ready to run" setup. I replaced my Mopar Electronic setup with the firecore a couple of months ago. It was a huge difference from the Mopar setup.

MHO.

regular ( not RTR unit ) firecore dist per lot of ppl sugestion ( which is still stockish Mopar look ) and Rev-N-Nator box

although a RTR dist will give you easier wiring job without add any extra stuff, specially on an original Points car
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

Here's a quote from Scott ;

"ron your firecore ignition is awesome....before the car almost had a rough, choppy idle, sounded cool but had the distinct unburned fuel smell to it

now the car is much much smoother, idles nicer and cleaner....the exhaust almost has a different note with the firecore......180 degrees in the better direction!! "
