Spoke with one retailer today who ordered 400 of these... and they arrived today. And by this afternoon, he only had 20 that were still available. :scared:

He expects shipping out all his pre-orders will take several days, so if you have one on order, be prepared for it to take a bit longer than usual to receive, as the demand for this beauty has been unusually fierce. He unboxed one immediately to inspect it for me and says they look amazing.

Hoping to receive my 6 copies by the weekend... but maybe that's too optimistic. :icon_smile_big:

Looks great! A lot more than just a yellow painted Charger with a stripe. And it's a vast improvement even seeing a GY3 car and not a banana yellow one. Only thing I really notice for improvement is that it looks like the 440 callout is too far forward. I recall it being above the side marker light.

A very common belief, but only one digit was above the marker while the other two were forward of it.

On the passenger side, it was a bit further back, having two digits over the marker. See the screen captures.

When doing the artwork, we pushed to match the passenger side with the driver's because the driver's callout is seen more often, more clearly... and wanted the model to look balanced... in effect, fixing the film crew's boo-boo. ::)

True, but nowhere in the film is the #1 car seen clearly in a direct side view. The #2 car has it WAY back, hanging off the rear of the marker. They just weren't that meticulous way back then. :)

Yeah, I was searching through my photos too.  I think I have one somewhere from abteer angle but who knows?

I think I may have found a locomotive thats close to 1:18 scale...  :scratchchin:
But I'd have to display them as the movie SHOULD have ended.

One of mine arrived this morning.  :2thumbs: Here are some quickie shots. :drool5:

The obligatory 3/4 front/side shot. That oddness in the paint above the front side marker is a trick of the light bouncing off the roadway stripe, not a flaw on the car.

The antenna is mounted slightly high and using a pin/hole to mount it. Not my preference, but doesn't look bad. The rear tire on this side seems "oily", looking somebody applied tire dressing. The other three look properly dry and dark gray. I'll clean this one off shortly to match the others.

Note the AC vents tampo'd on the center dash pad. A nice (and accurate) touch.

GIGGITY!!!! A nice helping of the stuff that made the 70's street machine culture so cool.

A full-size, matched spare... just like the movie car had! Still can't believe Autoworld let us have this detail.  :coolgleamA:

If it weren't for my wonky camera, you'd be able to read Peter Fonda's birthdate on the bottom of the yellow sticker... 2 23 1940.

To be cruely critical, the strpe alignment at the rear of the door is a wee bit off. The front tip being above the molded beltline is intentional because the beltline is wrongly molded (it should match the stripe). Lowering the stripe's tip would have made it look droopy. Otherwise, gorgeous! (Note I didn't have the hood fully lowered in this shot...sorry)

Ready for inspection, sir!

The inner panel is loose at the end where it meets the headlight door. A drop of glue will secure it.

Yea, one to keep in mint condition and one to be modified with Deke's tool box and well I guess I'd put in a lug wrench and a spring to hold it all down to start.
Don't forget to remove the center cap also.

I probably should have taken a few minutes to wipe the car down and tack that grille piece in place. I just wanted to get a few pics uploaded asap for those yelling for them. :)
That grille piece probably got jarred loose in transit. There's always a few that take a beating in transit and it's tough to spot in a sealed box... and many collectors want their boxes sealed (unopened) for future-value purposes... so the seller has to judge the car through the few plastic box windows before shipping it out.

As for that support, I personally wouldn't have known that. If it's actually wrong, it's likely because the mold is used for 1968-70 models and some less-obvious pieces may have been "averaged" to represent all 3 years... another normal cost-saving choice manufacturers make. At least, that would be my guess. I'd have to check previous releases of each year to see if that part is always the same.

After all the work to get it made I can't bring myself to be too critical, the major details are there and it doesn't have any glaring mistakes like the missing interior on the Daisy Duke Plymouth's.  I can live with a four speed shifter handle (which you explained a long time ago) but the missing interior was a deal breaker for me.
