did anyone install the new borgeson power steering box yet?
i am think about  getting one soon..............................

I have a complete kit in the garage ATM , but it won't be going on before the spring. Plan on swapping the motor in the spring and can't change it til the motor is out.
I have TTi headers will make life much easier to have the motor out for the install.
Sorry can't help sooner but I will post pics of the install when I get a chance to do so

right now i have firm feel stage 3 box with fast ratio pitman arm .
i want to know if the borgeson box makes a huge difference.

I looked into putting the setup into my Hemi car with TTI headers. I was warned by the Borgeson people that clearances are very tight to the headers. They were willing to work with me and asked if I could send them pictures showing the existing box clearances. I'm not saying to you don't do it just do your homework 1st as you know this is an expensive conversion just the same. I want to do it myself but it seems like it's just to close to clear in my case.

They only made one gear ratio for the Mopar PS box.  The Saginaw-based Borgeson deal should give you access to a bunch of GM's choices.

i have had the borgeson box on my 68 charger for 3 months. i am not very happy.....we had to use shims to make it fit. i did not see a huge difference compared to the ff box that i had. my biggest problem is that the gear box mount is getting lose all the time making driving dangerous.
for that kind of money it was supposed to be 100% bolt on at least.

Myk, what's wrong with having your original box rebuilt properly,
Go through your suspension with us , what have you done ? More importantly ? What haven't you done yet ,
Lots of threads on here to correct or improve factory faults or sloppy areas,

New (less than 5K miles) sway bars, shocks, ball joints, tie rods, UCA/LCA bushings, and my steering box was replaced about 10 years ago with a 'reman/rebuild (whatever the shop extorted me for).   

Those who have installed the Firm Feel boxes seem to like what their products have done for their car, so I'd like to recreate that experience in my car.  In the next few months I will be installing the rest of Hotchkis' suspension pieces like the UCA's, torsion bars, leaf springs and strut rods.  I figured the Firm Feel box would help tighten things beyond what the factory can do...

FWIW, the Borgesons are rebuilt and modified used boxes to fit the Mopar bolt pattern. They are not brand new.

I've seen a couple of guys swear they are the best thing since sliced bread. I've seen a couple others have pitman arm fitment issues and say they felt no different than a Firm Feel. Ive seen an opinion that the sector bolt is cranked down to produce the tighter feel and they will eventually wear into a position similar to a stock box. They are a bit smaller and a bit lighter than the OEM style boxes and require special hoses and coupler adapters so if space and weight are critical, they are definetly an improvement.

The raw concept of the Borgeson box seemed perfect.  Rework a Saginaw casing to bolt into a Mopar PS box location.  

Lighter & smaller is just part of it.  The Saginaw PS box is like the Ford 9" axle or the Mustang II front suspension - it's THE power steering gearbox that the aftermarket has decided to focus all their effort on.  There are numerous rebuilders for it, numerous donor vehicles, they make different T-bar thicknesses, pump pressures, numerous gear ratios (inside the box, not just idler arms), one of the ratios is even a variable setup, etc.  

I would like the idea of this swap even if I was told from the outset that the box would need rebuilding.  If Borgeson won't deliver consistent gearbox quality then they should just cut the price down a notch & sell the raw modified casings alone.  Let customers finish them off on their own.

Having sold more of these boxes than anyone else, and manufacturing the bolt in coupling and hydraulic fittings I have quite a bit of experience with these. True, these start off as used cases, not a real big issue, the factory stuff is 50yrs old and I don't see anyone bashing that. Its the negative publicity of one person who I won't name who has gone on every board with negative comments. These boxes are faster ratio, 14 compared to 16:1 which is noticeable. The pitman shafts are freshly machined to make them work with the mopar application. The 50yr old boxes are 50yrs old, they aren't new gears in case anyone was wondering...The new box offers precision and reaction off center that is light years ahead of the original boxes. The feedback to those who have used them is excellent. There have been some boxes come out that seem like the bracketry could be welded on wrong. This is something that Borgeson has dealt with when necessary. The boxes I've done at the shop have been spot on including my own car. PM me if you want to talk more about the facts.

I respect that you have come here and shared your experience with this product, however the thread that was referred to had more than just one person with issues.  Now if a little "persuasion" is necessary to install the Borgeson box then it is what it is; most people would call that the first lesson of hot rodding.  I on the other hand don't want to deal with that much of a hassle.  Most of the Firm Feel users have reported a significant performance increase as well as ease of installation and those are the selling points to me...

On that thread did they ever pin down exactly what was screwing up the fit on the Borgeson boxes?  Were they inconsistently machined or something?

The only thing I can think of is something with their jig. 98% of the boxes fit perfectly. I installed 6 in my shop plus my own without issue. Borgeson covers the boxes for 3 years. In warranty situations they pay the freight both ways as well.
