Just did a upgrade to my front brakes while doing a brake job. New inner & outer bearing and the addition of a set of cross drilled & slotted brake rotors.

1969 Charger  Orange /black top  (1989) 360 engine stock with added xtreme comp cam and a 4 bbl  , 904 trans/shift kit , 8-1/4 rear.. with general lee accents.

Nice work  :2thumbs:  Hope yours went a lot smoother than my conversion :)

Thanks, after taking it for a ride it seems to stop OK but not what i had hoped for ,all i did was change the rotors and pads. Always have had a vacuum issue that is kind of fixed ,still get a hard pedal after a couple of hits. The vac drops to 13 pounds until you hit the gas a little than it pops up to 23 and its good again.(New booster and master as well ) Maybe it will get better when the pads seat to the rotor.

They look pretty but slots and holes don't do much to improve regular stopping activities. Yes, the pads do need to bed into the rotor for performance to increase. You want to put some moderate heat into the pads/rotors several times to create a uniform heat level between all the aprts, then stop and let it cool. Repeat the process a few more times. Once this is done, then everything is as good as its going to get. Avoid any high speed or panic stops before pads are fully bedded.

If you are braking hard on a consistent basis and need more performance, then you may need a new pad compound to stand up to the heat.

I think most of my issue comes from the vacuum that the engine produces at idle Next year i might invest in a vacuum pump ..I am on the edge of enough vacuum  to work like it should.

Or go hydroboost.   :yesnod:

Lot cheaper to do a vacuum pump, not a daily driver to be putting that type of money into if you don't have to. Summit sells a unit with a built in pressure switch for $260

Fair enough!

Someone recently posted about installing hydroboost from a junkyard car or truck.  All done for under $300 but installing a vacuum pump is probably a lot easier.   :yesnod:

Car stopping MUCH better now that its been used a bit. Looks like thee pads just needed to get seated  to work like they should.   :2thumbs:

I have had good results with Hawk HPS (high performance street) pads for stock Mopar pin mount calipers. Summit has them. They do need to be bedded correctly. Easy on rotors, quiet and not much dust.
