Guys,

I have my lca off and pressed the pivot stud out.  Now how do I remove the old bushing from the lca.  The rubber is out but the sleeve is still in. I am replacing it with another rubber type bushing.

Thanks

I just rebuilt the front suspension on my 68, it was a job, but I simply took a chisel and split it down one side, had to pry on it a little with a screw driver, too. But after finally splitting it with a chisel, I removed it with pliers. It took a little while, but after doing the first one, the second one went a little quicker.

Another tip, when pressing in the new bushing... press the bushing into the control arm first, then press the shaft into the bushing. I pressed the shaft into the bushing first using my vice, then went to a buddy's house to press the shaft/bushing into the control arm. Didn't workout so good, screwed the bushing up. I was lucky the kit I ordered had 4 LCA bushings with it instead of 2... don't know why but it did, so I was able to redo it.

I bought a puller tool from Mancini racing to remove mine. It's also common to weld a washer to the old outer sleeve and press it out. The tool works amazingly well, but isn't the cheapest. The sleeve remover is designed to work with one of their pullers. I bought their front end tool kit (the sleeve puller isn't included). Overall I am not happy with the kit they sell and found I had to use a bunch of spacers (big open end wrenches, bearing races, etc.) to get things to work properly.

I welded a washer to mine and pressed it out with my shop press. Used a long bolt with a nut on the end to press on the welded washer.
