stupid question being asked

here's a kinda stupid question: Is it possible to buy a slightly used race engine (and transmission) from one of the Dodge (nextel) Cup teams, buy a set of gaskets from Flatout Gaskets (to drop the compression to pump gas territory) and run it in a street car, 9,000+RPM and all?
when racing deals fall apart.....you go home, like me.

you probably could, but it would probably be too expensive (Cup engines cost about $40,000+ each, a 'slighty used' one wouldnt be that cheap) and it would be unpractical in a street car, even with the lower compression.

not 100% sure but i don't see why not if you have the $$$ to spend...my buddy's dad used to tell us stories about his 283 in his 55 chevy that would run 7000-8000 rpm's all day and not have a problem

later  :icon_smile_cool:
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....
