Well the wife let me have the garage....sort of! I kinda took it over one afternoon while she was at work. Did some painting, some artwork on the wall, 50 inch tv,  some shelves, and cabinets, and a bumble bee stripe on the ceiling! (pain in the ass by the way!) Car has real tail lights, real license plates, and eventually some exhaust tips, and maybe some dice in the front! What ya guys think? Suggestions on what next?

Looks very cool! Although I would have painted the Charger big enough and placed the TV on the wall right where the back window should be, that would be really cool!
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

WOW that looks awesome!  I don't think I will ever have a garage that clean!  Just have too much crap!   :eek2:

Now you need a really nice floor!!  Painted or tiled.

DadsCharger00

Thanks guys! Totally a process though! I agree about the floor. I've been looking at different floors and WOW...expensive. SO I'm thinking I'm leaning towards concrete paint....taping it off like I did everything else, and painting it on. Then laying a layer of epoxy down over it to seal it up.  I like the banner idea! Have to look on ebay for some of those...also have some uncut baseball cards. Big sheets actually. Thinking of framing them and putting them out there as well. Then along the black stripe I have some 1/18 scale cars I thought about lining them up too....

I like the idea...I've never seen anybody do something quite like that.  :2thumbs:  Very creative!   (btw, that grille is expensive wall art!)

Looks awesome, but I have to ask; what's the deal-ee-o with a '68 ceiling stripe and a '69 underneath it?    :shruggy:

DadsCharger00

Well....I have a 68....the 69 was an afterthought since I had the tail lights... :2thumbs:

I had mine painted in epoxy by a local company.  Two car garage was around $1600.  They ground the floor down with a diamond wheel, filled all the cracks with epoxy putty then put down two coats of paint.  Looks great.  Others want to use acid to etch the floor, my way made lots of dust but I didn't have to worry about acid getting slung around!!

You can get kits from Griots and even Lowes for less than $500 but it requires preping the floor with acid.

Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

OK, that explains things. You're forgiven.  ;)

FWIW - This summer I finally decided to do something with my garage floor and so far I am very happy with the results. I spent a lot of time researching different options and costs and finally went with http://www.bigfloors.com/shop/garagetrac/  They have sales usually around Thanksgiving and in the spring which makes the tiles a little more affordable. I ran carpet tiles where I stand and walk a lot and it seems to work well for me. The wife & I knocked it out in a weekend.

Beautiful garage!  The floor looks very nice but I was wondering about moisture getting underneath the tiles.  When you lift it up is it wet underneath?  Another for me it hosing it down. If it gets wet does water seap through the cracks?    :scratchchin:

Not speaking on his behalf....but from my research water can and will get under it but it will dry out and run out.

Looks great.   Will you be parking a daily driver on it this winter?

Thanks!! I am very happy with it.
The tiles are designed so that water can flow under them and with the garage slope any water should run towards the doors. I have checked under them and its always very dry, even with the humidity changes. But, so far I have not tested this with a hose or any major spill. The real test will be this winter when I park my truck on it after a snow fall and the snow melts onto the floor. I assume any water will run between the tiles and drain towards the doors, but we will see.

Nice, notice you have two different lifts, which one you like better. Any pros & cons between the two.

Big differences between the 2 lifts. The blue one in the background is a BendPac lift and is really well made and designed. It is one that I would highly recommend to anyone that works on and under cars often. Since I really enjoy wrenching on cars it is my workhorse that I count on to do many things. The Atlas is a Chinese made lift that I would describe as a lift to use for parking a car under another one. It was considerably less expensive and does the job, but it is not a quality piece and I would not recommend it to anyone who would use it to work on cars. As a basic car parking lift its fine, and does exactly what I need it to do.

I have owned the BendPac for 9 years now and never had a single issue; the Atlas I have owned for 3 years and its already started to leak some hydraulic oil at the pump - and that's with light use! So, if your shopping for a lift, spend the extra and get something that will last, and give you less headaches.
