I have a '73 Charger with a 318 V8.

I have installed a new starter, new starter relay, and a new neutral safety/starter switch. I can successfully start the engine without issue by jumping the starter relay. The problem is that I cannot start the engine with the key. When the key is placed in the first/run position, all of the electronics in the cabin and etc turn on. However when placed in the start position, I get abosolutely nothing.

I'd like to note that the ignition lock cylinder is not 'attached' to the steering column, I can pop it in and out and still get the electronics, but I was told that this is not actually an issue. Could this be the issue?

I have same problem with my 70 charger. In my case it was the connection at the bulkhead. When I push on the wire (yellow) it would work again.

I feel like an idiot for not trying it sooner, but with the ignition lock cylinder removed, I was able to just flip the ignition switch by hand and was able to get it started up. So now I'm thinking that it's just the actual lock cylinder and it not being seated properly in the column. But then I wonder, why am I getting power when turning it on, but not getting a crank when turning it to start?

Is there a trick to inserting the cylinder such that it engages with the switch and doesn't just slide in and out if in the 'off' position?
