    Hey everyone!
I have a couple ? :shruggy: I have a 68' 383 2v engine and drivetrain I pulled out of a fury i have.engine runs pretty good.I was going to build it up to go in my 72 charger.Well things have come up and I can't afford to go all out like i had planned.I checked the pistons and cylinders and i am going to just rering this engine, and install a eddy performer rpm intake and 750 carb, hooker comp headers.anyone able to give me an idea on a cam that would make good power and be able to be installed with out having to do a bunch of machine work as cutting down guides, fly cutting pistons and such.I have 275/60r15 tires and 3.55 gears in the rear this is a street car.I would like to find a cam i can install without changing a bunch of other stuff.springs, pushrods are a given I can do that.I am worried about piston to valve clearance.I look at the cam catalog but not sure how big i can go before interference.
anyone have a simillar setup?any help or ideas?
the heads are the original open chambers,i forgot to mention that.
thanks

from looking at the numbers and not really knowing exactly how they will translate into performance.the  K56 sounds really nice.Don't know if i can run that much lift on a stock head though?

Chryco Psycho

generally you are OK up to ,520 lift but it is worth measuring the clearance , piston to valve is measured 6* before TDC for exhaust & 6* after for intake total lift can be measured at bdc

I am going to get some light springs and check the clearances hopefullly this week.as i have a few days off since the wife is having surgery tomorrow.I know i got to get the rest of the motor tore down and check all the clearances so i can order parts. :icon_smile_big:
what did you mean by getting total lift at bdc?

Chryco Psycho

with the piston at the bottom of the bore you can open the valve fully without hitting the psiton to check clearance for the valve seal & guide

jackel440

oh ok i see what you meant now.I didn't see that you were refering to total lift and also guide clearance at the same time  :yesnod:
maybe i can check it out tonight or tomorrow depending if they let my wife go home from the hospital.
