Cant really call it the "loud" pedal either unless you think golf carts are loud  :shruggy:

Ghoste

Foot operated variable speed control.

Throttle probably wouldn't be used either.  Regulator pedal?  Thrust pedal?  It might remain the gas pedal for the sake of heritage.

What was it called on the first electric car?-----FWD/go?

People will still call it a 'gas pedal' for many years to come, maybe indefinitely.   We use a ton of anachronisms that describe older technology without even thinking about it.

How many of you still say you're 'dialing' or 'hanging up' your phone even though phones haven't had dials or cradle hooks since at least the 80's?    Anybody born since 1990 has probably never actually 'dialed' a phone'

Do you still 'punch' your time clock at work?   Anybody had any items 'rung up' at the grocery store lately?  Have you 'filmed' anything with your smart phone lately?

I'd say gas pedal is here to stay.

How awesome would that be, 40 years down the road, there's a janky lil forum like this one, only for Tesla Motors.  People trying to sell their 2nd gen model S grilles, and bent up rusty parts for WAY TOO MUCH damn money   :icon_smile_tongue:

Asking if anyone still makes batteries for them.

Let's go old school........rheostat.
FLY NAVY/Marine Corps or take the bus!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=369h-SEBXd8------- :2thumbs:for amps and acceleration.

In my teens we were talking about electric drive as being the future.  So now 40 years in the future from then we are still looking ahead for better batteries.

If something else comes up to push us back in our seat that gives the same fun--(like oh warp drive or the like ) than a more universal term is needed.  The thruster pedal? :icon_smile_wink:

bakerhillpins

I guess it depends on how you look at it, since most new cars are drive by wire anyhow these days so they are all rheostats now.   :Twocents:  :D

Ghoste

Thats true.  Although that rheostat controls a petroleum delivery system so we can still it a gas pedal too.

b5blue

Accelerator pedal? After thinking about it it still works, but I like Amps pedal best! (Hit the amps they are catching us!  )
