Hi everyone  I have a few questions about the K-frame I have on my 69. I have had a look on the forum and thought I may have been off a 70 due to the skid plate and "coin" welded on the front. Today I noticed that there looked like another coin underneath the first and there was. Top coin 79 bottom coin 90. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or if this is off a 70 can I still use it on my 69. Thanks Wakey

Moparparts

That is a 70 K-Frame that was supposed to be installed on the Three Hundred and Fourth Day of 1969 1st shift I would say the frame was going to be used as a 90 and they needed a 79 so they added the skid plate and the 79 coin right over the 90. I have seen this with coins before and is more common on radiators where they put a different number tag out over the first original one. Yes you could use it on the 69 but as mentioned would have to make provisions for the 69 sway mtg.

Thanks Tan Top, thanks Moparparts that's good news I didn't like my chances of finding another one here in OZ and shipping from the US is already starting to hurt from all the parts I don't have. I want to run with the full Hotchkis suspension so I guess I will need to drill a few holes In the k frame to mount it. The next question is are the lower control arms the same from 69 to 70, I have ordered the sway bar mounts to weld on and the LCA braces to stiffen them up. Does anyone think of any problems I will have. Thanks Wakey

use a 70 sway bar  , same as e body , probably better design too

The '68-'69 sway bar is narrower than the '70 unit & the brackets on the control arms are welded in different places to accommodate this.

Use the sway bar that matches the lower control arms that you have.

Thanks everyone, I have ordered the Hotchkis front sway bar and hotchkis sway bar mounts, so I'm not sure if its like a 69 or a 70 bar but I will have to weld some brackets on the lower control arms when I rebuild them. Thanks Wakey

My 69 has that k frame without the skid plate. I believe it was built summer of 69. I was thinking of converting to the 70 bar when my project get that far.
