Looking for advice or opinions....thinking of selling my 1976 Charger Sport

Just the memory of her hideousness is disturbing.

That move was risky for sure,

But she was driving me crazy.

I needed her gone.

In your situation, I ended up going for it.  She wasn't what I would describe as hideous, just not my type.  Either way, handled the business, and didn't have to hear much from her after.  Life works out in the end

The 2nd coolest car I ever had was a 73 XR7 Cougar, they were 2-door disco luxury muscle cars before the big castration in 74, no thanks to the Clean Air Act or Nixon who signed it into law. The previous owner had already done a lot of performance upgrades to the 351C and my Charger doesn't move like it did (yet).

There's nothing wrong with the disco Chargers, and a mid-70's V8 is both still a V8 and easy to upgrade dirt cheap. I can't find it in my Hagerty value finder website. Fact is, it moves, it looks good, it's got a V8, and you can do anything to it.

That's not to say you won't find an enthusiast willing to pay whatever you ask. My mother once sold a busted Geo Metro for $1200. There are people who want this car, the trick is finding them. You might have better luck on a new Charger forum, since the new Chargers are more luxury and more likely have the demographic that would find your car desirable.

I dunno, it might be cool to have just because its different. As pointed out, it is a V8 RWD, which means potential.

As a former owner of several disco era Mopar F bodies, I can attest that smog cars respond to the same mods as earlier cars and can move just as fast. My Aspen put many different Road Runners and Chargers on the trailers at the local bracket races after clicking off a 12.2 against a restored 440 15.5 second big block car.

I think that being referenced as a "him" is unfortunate but understandable.  While many women are on this site, the majority are males, so it is an understandable mistake, one for which I am sure a "hey, sorry about that chargerchic, I wasn't paying attention" would likely suffice for most folks.  So I'll toss it out there for the group:

The derby car thing was a little harsh, but I assume the point was more that this car isn't necessarily the classic collector charger.  Nor is it a modern mopar.  It is kind of in a weird era grey zone that does not have a big following and does not command the numbers that many of us get used to seeing with the old chargers.  Still kind of a neat car and someone is looking for it.  Someone is looking for everything.  That someone may stumble on this site looking.  So good to have it here.

I didn't see anyone asking for pics of "her".  If so, that would be a little sad and off putting to chargerchic for sure.  And I think would be embarrassing to the rest of us.  But I didn't see that.

Hopefully she comes back and posts more / better photos of her car.  The info and photo provided do little for us to really have much of an opinion about the car, nor does it do much for if/when that person searching for their dream 76 charger stumbles upon this post.

The facts may seem harsh, but that doesn't make them untrue.

Thousands of these things have breathed their last though a pair of stacks blasting straight up through the hood at county fairs all over the country.

Once the Imperials and the other full sized Mopars started to dry up and become hard to find the derby guys started snatching these up...


Paying pretty good money, too.  

To get the best money out of one of these...

If it's not absolutely pristine...

Advertise it on the demo derby sites.

One must appreciate these cars for what they are and the time they were built.

First gen smog, low compression, unleaded fuel, OSAC and thermoquads. However, they have a comfortable ride, most modern creature comforts and real faux fake wood grain dash trim.

My 75 is ROCK solid, super dependable. Just as fun as my 69 Charger at speed.

0-60 is just S-L-O-W but 90-115 is surprisingly respectable with no vibration-my 69 shook like a crack addict going through DTs.

These are cruisers. Ricardo Montalban digs them. Pop in a KC and the Sunshine band 8 Trak and enjoy the ride!

Im still sticking to my "Teenagers first car" theory 

i knew other 16 year olds in highschool who would constantly clean and wash their rusted, torn up junkers daily.. i was one of them 

and she does say she wants a good home, and not a demo derby casualty.

but as for the price, i guess its whatever a potential kid has to offer
