C500, is it steel?

I feel like I see some differences between that one and the one in the ad, the one in the ad looks flatter, longer (height), and pushed out at more of an angle.  It is really hard to compare though.  We will patiently await a mock up.

No, its fibreglass, and quite light. Eager to see how it looks now too, has been off for about 5 years

Vintage spoiler I made from stainless.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Part number sticker had the date (4/78),  interesting they manufactured and sold spoilers for cars that were already 9 years old.

I did install the 69 Camaro spoiler because I wanted to hide that ugly, fat sway bar.

Lol.  BTW did I ever ask you how you mounted it?  Did you have to drill any other holes anywhere, or did you just use whatever was already there?  I still might mount it-I dunno...

I used the original valance holes and drilled new ones in the spoiler.  I used a few strong bolts and the long rod that comes with the kit fits perfectly between spoiler and k member as long as you flatten one end.  Very easy to mount.

I didn't set out to install a spoiler but that ugly light colored sway bar was really an eye sore to me.  I do like the spoiler now, it suits the car.  Especially because I have the black and white thing going on.   :icon_smile_big:

Your sway bar is light colored?  Mine's black...

Thanks for posting the pictures of the spoiler C500  :yesnod:  appreciated

:2thumbs:

I  think  78 was the first year it appeared in the Direct connection  cataloge .
with out the date ,  the part number is a give away its a late 70s part , I believe  :scratchchin:
did have some old DC catalogs  but gave them away long time ago  :slap:

Ok, I am finding some info now.  That was actually the part number associated with Direct Connection's A body front spoiler.  Found it on For A bodies Only, a pair of front and rears recently sold on ebay, etc.

So, we are gonna have to see it mocked up (an old photo maybe C500?) to see if it looks like the one in the ad... (maybe there wasn't a B body spoiler?)

Just found a couple too of those ads too. Will see if I can get it onto a buddys 68 for a photoshoot in the next day or 2. Will check if I have any photos of it fitted to mine, but don't think I do.

Can you guys pull a "tan top" (term of endearment) and post up some of the pics you found in the auction and other sites so that we can compare and more importantly they have a longer lifespan here on DC.com?

I also like the DC spoiler in that ad. I wonder if it is a real car or just a illustration. I mean it looks to be a artist rendering but is it based off an actual car is my question........I also notice it appears to have a hood scoop and aftermarket rims as well.

Yep, very light.  Stands out like a sore thumb.

A picture or a description of the part would be nice...

I am finding that part number associated with different parts, i.e. all A body air dams but some glass, some plastic, seems like some slightly different shapes.  I actually think the part changed based on year but the number stayed the same.

I also saw this, and a few others just like it.  I'll bet that if you order you either get a modern part sharing a part number or you get a "we don't actually have this" message.

I called Mopar America for a better description.  They do not have that part, need to update their catalog/site.  He said the only description he had for it was "air dam" and they quit making it in 2005, so I am willing to bet it wasn't the one C500 has anyway.

This piece is elusive to say the least.  I think C500 is our best hope!

That one listed on 2040 is dated 4/17/89, is the same part number, but is abs plastic.  Shape looks similar.

The closest thing I know to the advertised DC B-body air dam is a pedestal spoiler from a pre-86 G- body. Similar width, height and shape of backsweep on the turned down ends. That's what I have stashed for my car.

I posted a pic of it in one of the other threads on this same subject. I don't know if I'll be able to find it, though?

Here it is!

I took a couple of pics last night, will download them and see how they turned out. The spoiler I have is made of plastic. It looks exactly the same as the one in the 2040parts.com advert. It fitted 'ok' on the 68, but the holes did not line up - you would need to drill some holes through the valence or spoiler to attach. It won't fit right under the radiator support because of the bracket that goes back from there, only place to fit is the valence.

Bottom lines is, this spoiler was not made for a b body, but fits on pretty good (once on, it looks like it belongs there ) with some minor mods to accommodate.
