I was scratching my head on that link a little bit due to the $82k price, when the last eBay auction ended at $126k without meeting the reserve.  Then I realized the dragtimes.com site is just posting current eBay auction standings.  Here's the new eBay auction link for this car:

i think $126.000 , $124.988.66 is what it is worth . it's a different market now then it was 2 years ago   :Twocents:

Anyone watch the NASCAR Raceday I think is the name last night 10-24.  It's the talking head show with McReynolds, Hamlin and some other dude.  Anyhow they had Carl Edwards as guest and he started talking about being friends with WWF wrestler John Cena.
Anywhoots Cena showed up and they ask him about being a gearhead so they asked him what he had.  The camera cuts away showing his driveway with a Superbird, and a 1st gen. Charger.  He says he owns a hemi Charger and few other brand X rides, but he just picked up a black '69 Dodge Daytona.
I wonder if it's this one?

Maybe LowProfile could ask him?

I used to own XX29L9B402971.  I purchased it from the original owners' wife (he had died a few years before).  It was in a storage building off of the Southwest freeway in Houston around July, 1982.  It was originally platinum with a red tail but when I bought it they had repainted it black, with huge metal flakes, and a red wing.  Purchase price: $2,500.00.  It was all original but it had some surface rust, mainly on the hood.  The carpet was shot and the headliner hung down around the top of my head.  Original owner used this Daytona to tow a boat down into Mexico and the car had a large trailor hitch welded underneath.  I had that hitch cut off and still have it today.  I restored it with a new paint job of silver and candy apple red with the red in the recesses of the hood.  The car didn't come that way from the factory of course but it looked good.  Re-did the carpet and headliner.  The car ran when I bought it but really needed a serious tune-up.  The spark plugs were so covered with carbon it looked like little birds nests on them.  Put a kit in the carburetor and new points in the distributor and it ran pretty darned well.  I later replaced the originar carb with a Holley 780 cfm with vacuum secondaries and then it really perked up.  It did seem to me that being column shifted was a little out of place in a car such as this but I quickly overlooked this when I started getting a lot of attention from other drivers.  It also has power steering and power brakes so it was a comfortable car to drive.  It was missing the jack, spare tire and owners manual when I bought it and it had about 60k miles as I recall.  I used to drive it to the University of Houston in '82 and '83 while a student there.  Sold it to the Allyson's around August, 1983 for $9,500.00.  By then it had about 72k miles on it.  If I remember right, Mr. Allyson was an architect and he was buying the car for his son who was about 17.  I was only 21 at the time and even I thought that a '69 Daytona in the hands of a 17 year old could be dangerous.  I wasn't so much worried about the kid as I was the car.  Glad to see it has survived all these years.  I have some great memories of that car.

Do you have anything in your garage now?  Thanks for checking in too btw, always nice to get some first person history on these cars.

Interesting story........... I live here in the Houston area now ( Cypress ). Talking with Ted Janak a week or so ago, I recall him talking about another Daytona running around Houston and in particular, UofH.... Small world...... now, I'm taking over the reigns of Daytona spottings in the Houston area....... Thanks for sharing.... Car looks great and looks a lot like the Daytona clone I just got; black with red wing/stripe....
