Is it with the $4-500 to port heads for a stockish 340 (Bored .030, 70' HP cam profile, deck shaved .010)?

I don't understand what you are asking here Randy ?

Biggest initial gains with the sb rpm heads is application of a "real" Valvejob... as in performance style seat angles and widths, backcut the Valves, followed by then blending the new throat angle into the Bowls(bowl port).... Then do the intake opening paying attention to the pushrod pinch area.

Prices depend upon geographical area.... and the "competency" of who is doing it ?
If they don't OWN a FLOWBENCH.... and know HOW to use it..... walk away !
Only wimps wear Bowties !
