Drum to Disc...just add in an adjustable proportioning valve?

I have converted my front drums to factory style front discs. I found a decent booster at a wrecker, and purchased a new master cylinder for disc brakes. My question is related to the factory proportioning valve. It is a factory drum car....can I just add in an adjustable proportioning valve on the rears, or do I need to remove/replace the factory one. I have an adjustable on the shelf, so I thought I would just add it in. Any help would be great.

This is what I did and works very well.

Yes. I have the adj. proportioning valve installed temporarily on the old rear brake line after the stock valve. The valve will be mounted under the MC shown in the second picture in the future.
