Should I keep the original steering gearbox?

My steering gearbox on my '71 SE is leaking badly. A quick check and it looks like the worm shaft has some play in it so I figured I'd replace it while the engine is out. Should I hang on to the original or return it for the core charge?
I don't forsee ever restoring this car but the next guy might. Is there any value in hanging on to these kind of parts? I have been keeping original vac, water hoses and such for identification purposes. It does have the original drive train.

unless it's a factory fast ratio, a gear box is a gear box....use it as a core, just make sure you take the fittings off you will need for the new one

Many are unaware, but every Mopar power steering box has the same 15.7 ratio. Its been the same since they first designed and built the iron case power steering chuck in 1957. The 70 Challenger T/A and Cuda AAR had a longer pitman arm that changed the steering ratio but the steering box itself had the same ratio of 15.7.
Regarding the steering unit in the 71 Charger, it is not anything unique. Return it for the core refund. From slant six to Hemi, every 71 Charger used the same steering box!

I wasn't thinking it was anything special but was just thinking it might have a date code that was important to keep. The car isn't anything special other than it's pretty highly optioned (19 options) and 99% or so complete. Returning the core means more money to put into it!

You can always ugrade to the new Borgeson box with my bolt in kit. Its 14:1 and eliminates all the on center slop associated with stock style boxes.
