1989 Shelby Dodge Pickup

Only 1500 were built, about 1000 red and 500 white. There is one for sale in Ontario although I think he's asking a little much for it.

Were they just a stripe package or did they get some performance upgrades too?  That one looks to be in good shape and it isn't high mileage.

And the following year, Dodge offered the 318 as a normal production engine. What it all boils down to is that the Shelby name on a Dodge means zero. I know, I had three.

The Shelby Dakota was like Mr Norms 383 Dart. Norm proved it could be done, so Dodge started doing it. The Shelby Dakota proved a 318 would fit under the hood (although with some tweaking) so Dodge started offering the 318 as an option in 1990. The only difference was of course the Shelby Dakota had 5 extra horsepower compared to the standard 1990 Dakota 318. Then in 1991 the Dakota was redesigned with the hood and grille to better fit the 318.

the wheels and center caps are the hardest pieces to find if anyone is restoring one...everything else specifc to teh truck is basically a bolt or paint on

The front air dam is also Shelby specific and a bit more difficult to find.

What about the Shelby convertible trucks?

What about the Shelby convertible trucks?

There were never any Shelby converts, but the Dakota Sport Converts were built for two years (2843 in 1989 and 1013 in 1990) with a total of 3856 being made. We've got three in the family. Fun little trucks but gutless as can be with the 3.9 V-6 automatic.
here's mine..........
