Good Guys

, was very help full when my tic toc tach , clock ! stopped working after  10-12  years .
after taking it apart I found the voltage reducer fused , due to a power surge ( after jump starting because of a flat battery  :P long story ) , they no longer used that type of voltage reducer & could not find one that would work any where ,  after exchanging emails & pictures over a couple of nights  , was kind enough to tell me how to get round the problem .
good people    :2thumbs:

sounds like you had the same thing happen !  as me then , two years ago   ,
I saw a bright flash in the tic toc tac , like the bulb went super nova  , then noticed the clock no longer worked .
the  clock power , is reduced by a converter thingy ( forget the correct name )  from 12 volts to 1.5 volts , they had these converters specially made in Germany , (  they use a different type now ) ,  sometimes if these blow , the clock will remain undamaged ,  to check clock you first have to dismantle the tic toc tac , & remove the clock , then the clock face , be  very carefull the clock face is stuck & screwed on , after carefully removing the clock hands , carefully  tweak the face of the clock from the back part ( with a very thin flat bladed screw driver or suitable blade , the clock guts / movement is on the rear of the face , while the voltage reducer is stuck on the back part , connected with two very short  wires ,  two black ,  one with a white tracer ,
connect the clock wires , after first identifying which is  + & - to a AA or size C etc  1.5 volt battery ,  if clock works  , you can then use one of them in car power supply from cigarette  lighter that powers phones & accessory's etc , that reduces to 1.5 volt , take it apart , use the guts & wire it to a perminate live feed &  wire that out of sight , or source a similar power converter to put back inside the clock , I  looked but could not find anything ,  so I went for the third option ,  use a 1.5 volt battery to power the clock , I went to a electrical shop &  bought  a suitable battery holder ( went for size c 1.5 volt battery & holder ) & mounted it up under the dash , but with easy access to change the battery ,ran wires to  straight to the clock , carefully put it all back ,  job done  , was planning to order another new Tic toc tac , later on  , but decided I was liking the idea of a ( in my case size C ) battery powered clock  :P   I know some may think a  AA or a size C  1.5 volt  batteries  powering the clock in a Charger  is mad  , but  I  don't have to keep resetting the clock every time I disconnect battery when parked up over night or any length of time etc .

****  I would advise anyone with working  a tic toc tac to put a line blade fuse on the gray power feed to the clock on the factory harness , 2 minute job . not sure what size  , would start with the lowest amp rating think they do a 0.5  :scratchchin:  ,

I did have pictures saved of the whole operation , but they were amongst the ones I lost last year when computer blew up , if you do decide to attempted this , & your not sure of anything  , take pictures & post them up will help if I can ,   :2thumbs:

**EDIT ***   just read  my post  back to my self , I think I might  have made it sound  more confusing than it really is  ,   its really simple to do  , just be very carefull taking the hands off the clock & separating the clock face from the back  :2thumbs:
